"You're only a senior, you still have one more year."
Ryder groaned again as our old bus chugged up to our stop.
"It only gets worse for both of us if you complain and groan every five seconds." I pointed out as I stepped forward to the padded ripped seats. I could hear Ryder mocking me as he followed my lead. I bit my lip to hold back the giggles. Even since last night, he's been acting like a boyfriend without the title, like waking me up sweetly with breakfast in bed, to opening the door for me as we left my house. I was enjoying it but also waiting for something to piss Ryder off, because that's all it took to take the sweetness away.
I threw myself down in the second seat, as Ryder sat down next to me, looking around at all the kids sleeping around us. The bus started to go before our stupid bus driver slammed on her brakes again.
"What the hell?" Ryder groaned, throwing his face into the crock of my neck. I smiled, playing with his hair as he looked back up at me, "You're ruining my hair, woman." His smirk was planted on his lips as he looked back up to me, I shook my head.
The bus doors opened to a heavy breathing Ansel, walking to the seat next us.
"Almost missed the damn bus." He smiled at us, as Ryder gave me an annoyed look. "Oh, I didn't know you went to this school, I'm Ansel by the way."
I gave Ryder a hard look as he turned his attention to Ansel, "I'm Ryder, and today is my first day."
Ansel's face lit up, "My first day was just a few days ago, I've kinda got this place figured out, I could help you-"
"No, thank you, Shay already promised she'd help me." Ryder cut him off, as I gave him a look.
"But, we'll see you at lunch?" Ryder asked, giving a hard smile.
Ansel's smile never faltered, "Sure."

"I still don't get why you have got to be such a dick to him though."
Ryder smirked, pulling my waist to him in the empty hallway.
"Ryder, stop, we're already late."
Ryder pouted before placing a kiss to my lips, I pulled back, shocked.
"But, I'm new, and I think we just got lost." Ryder stated, as he pulled my hand, in our search for the cafeteria.
A few minutes later, we got to lunch, Ansel jogged up to us.
"I was getting kinda worried that you guys had skipped lunch." Ansel laughed nervously, as I heard Ryder mutter, "We should've."
I elbowed him, as I shook my head to Ansel, "No, we just got lost." I heard Ryder chuckle, as we walked to the lunch lines.
***
"For he was a jolly good fellow!" Ryder sang as Ansel and I walked off the bus behind him. Ansel and I laughed as Ryder continued to mock our history teacher.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow."
Ansel waved as Ryder picked me up and raced to the house, my giggles caused him to roar in laughter. Once we reached my house, Ryder threw me on the couch, "Stay."
I smiled as Ryder went into the kitchen, I moved my legs under me, as I thought over the day. It's been one of the best days I've spent with him, maybe he was getting better.
Ryder strolled back into the room with the tv remote and a box of Goldfish.
"I love Goldfish," I whispered as I tried to take the box out of his hands. He pushed my hands away as he sat next to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
"I know, remember, we had a twenty minute conversation about this on the bus." I giggled at my stupidity. Ryder smiled as he began to lean forward, my mind racing as his lip grew nearer. Just as his were about to touch mine, the door bell made us jump apart.
"Who the hell is that?" Ryder grumbled, and I couldn't help but wonder the same thing.
As I opened the wooden front door, it was as if all the nightmares came back, all the fighting, all the lying, now it was back. His brown hair was pushed back, his muscular arms in a black shirt as he leaned against the door frame. "Hey sweetheart,"
