I softly closed the door behind me, my mind was elsewhere.
After Chris' dig through Ryder's past, he offered me his file.
I didn't understand how this could help the case that Chris was working on, or frankly, how it was even legal. Whenever I declined looking through Ryder's file, Chris decided we'd finish tomorrow and I could have the choice to look at it again, if I pleased.
I was brought back into the present by two strong arms wrapped around me, I looked up to see Ryder's mess of black hair. I started to smile until I remember everything I've learned. Ryder's a murder, a murderer.
I needed answers.
I pushed his arms away from my waist, from the corner of my eyes I saw Kelsey's eyebrows slump down her face in confusion. I knew I couldn't look at Ryder then.
"Babe?" He questioned, confusion and hurt ringing in his voice.
Flutters danced around my stomach at his pet name but I had to stay focused.
"Can we talk?" I asked, finally meeting his striking green eyes.
"Yes, of course." He whispered, not moving.
I glanced behind him. Kyle, Ansel and Kelsey sat on a couch watching us intently.
"Alone." I clarified.
Ryder's eyes widened before nodding slowly.
Turning on my heel, I started to walk down the hall, hearing Ryder's heavy footsteps behind us.
Once we were far enough down that I couldn't see any of our friends I stopped, turning to face Ryder, but I couldn't speak.
"Shay?" Ryder whispered, my eyes were trained on his black shoes that I had made fun of long ago for being his "precious black shoes" while trying to give him a riding lesson. What I would do to go back to the innocent state that I was in then.
I started to open my mouth but quickly closed it again, tears coming down my cheeks. I wasn't just scared for the answer to what I was going to ask him, I was terrified.
"Ryder, have you ever killed anyone?"
He took a step back from me, pausing for a moment.
"No."
Tears rolled down my cheeks, as I ran my hands threw my hair in frustration.
"Babe, what's going on? What did you talk about in there?" Ryder asked softly, touching my hip softly.
"No," I cried out, using all my force to push at Ryder's chest.
"You lied to me, you heartless bastard." I whispered, as more tears slid down my cheeks.
Ryder's face contented in hurt and confusion, "Lied when?"
"You lied two minutes ago, you've been lying this whole time to me. You said that you wanted nothing to do with that gang the whole time and that isn't true, I know it isn't."
Ryder's mouth dropped slowly before he got himself back together.
"Babe, that's not true. I did want out-"
"Stop, right there." I said angrily, pointing my finger at Ryder. "I saw your file, a few photos that were taken of you. You held a man at gunpoint to steal money and you were smiling? What kind of sick person does that?" I ask, slowly feeling the hurt creep up my throat with the anger. "Then I see another picture of you walking away from a burning house. Did you help them kill Aunt Karen? Have you just been playing me the whole time or something?"
