The 3rd Floor

Chapter 37

Have you ever had that distinct feeling that you just hit something really really hard? Well, I kind of did hit something hard and was out cold for a couple hours. As you know, I kept re-reading the paper and acording to Danielle, I fainted. I fell face first into the hard, tiled cafeteria floor. My nose hurts right now so I assume its broken. I really wish that telling myself I wouldn't faint would've worked! Why, out of all the people in the world, did Emily pick our group of friends? She could've asked Justin Bieber or Lady GaGa to become evil with her, but no. Emily just had to pick the easiest targets she could get her hands on: Danielle, Kurstin, Brad, Don, and me.

You know, I am actually curious as to what it would be like to be evil. Im not saying that I want to become evil, I just want to know what it would be like. Im sure other people have had that thought, I think.

I never ever pictured Emily as being evil, not even for a second. She always seemed so bubbly and happy. How could someone so upbeat actually be dark and extremely evil?

"Lexi, are you ok? That looked like it hurt." Brad said, stating the obvious in his second sentence.

"Yeah! Its just that my nose hurts and if you would kindly leave..." My sentence died as everyone else entered the room, well, everyone except Emily and her goons. Im pretty positive that I was in the nurses office.

"Just to answer the whole 'where's Emily' question I know you have, she bolted out of the room after you fainted, but swore she would turn us. She ran and grabbed the paper before she left. Do you know what that was all about?" Kurstin's said, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"The paper was a document that she wanted all of us to sign. She wanted all of us to become evil with her." My throat was suddenly extremely dry.

Everyone looked at me in surpise and I was pretty sure they might all faint just like me. Just then, Kurstin's blue eyes turned black. She stared at all of us with no emotion. What in the world was going on with my friends! I mean seriously, first Emily and now Kurstin!

Kurstin quickly spun around and made her way out the door. Brad followed, but Im not sure that doing so was such a good idea. I've heard that if someone is sleepwalking, then you shouldn't wake them. Kurstin looked just she was sleepwalking. Brad following her, probably trying to wake her, which isn't that smart.

Danielle started running after them after a few minutes of just standing there and I knew this was just screaming trouble.

"It's ok Lexi, I'll stay with you." Don smiled in my direction.

"Its ok go--" Don left even before I finished the sentence.

Well, so much for staying with me. Soon after everyone left, the nurse came in to check on me. She said I was all good to go and that I could leave. She handed me some clothes that the school had and showed me to the nurse's private bathroom so I could change. Everyone loved the nurse's bathroom because it was the cleanest bathroom at school. However, Im a little scared to be seen in these clothes. Thank god I kept a spare set of clothes in my locker.

I walked out of the nurses office with the pants she gave me and the gown the put you in when you go to a hospital. I have no idea how they got me in this and why they needed to even put me in one in the first place.

As I reached my locker, I heard faint voices coming from down the hall. Thats when I remembered that there were other poeple here in all of the classrooms. I forgot that we weren't the only ones here.

I grabbed my clothes and quickly shut my locker. I ran to the closest bathroom which was upstairs. Thank you mom for making me bring extra clothes to put in my locker!

I've been searching the school for about an hour for my friends, but no luck. As I turned the corner that headed to an abandoned hallway in the school, I knew just were they were. As I reached the end of the hallway, I noticed that there was a book case right where the door was. I used all my strength to pull the thing away and there it was. I pulled a key out from underneath the carpet in a place where it was falling appart. The only reason I know about this place is because Danielle, Kurstin, Emily, and I used to skip classes and come here. Not a very smart hiding place Emily!

As I opened the door, my mouth immediatly dropped to the floor. Why does the world hate me and my friends?!

Kurstin was signing the paper.
