Trouble in Paradise

Chapter 2

Angel was leaving her doctor's appointment with Derrick and they were headed to lunch.

"I knew you were hungry, so I had to take you to lunch." He chuckled.

"Hush up!" She smirked.

They arrived to the restaurant and sat down at a table.

"How are you feeling?" He asked her.

"I'm alright, just ready to have this baby." She rubbed her growing belly.

"Only one more month to go." He reminded her.

"After this baby, no more kids for me until I'm married." She said half jokingly.

He laughed.

"I just can't believe it's been eight months already." She glanced around her.

"It's been a long time coming." He chuckled. "Never really knew how much women go through while they're pregnant."

"Thanks to you, I'm not going through it alone." She kindly smiled at him.

"You shouldn't be going through this alone." He returned the smile.

"True, but you're not the father this baby, and for you to step in help me through all of this shows what kind of man you are."

Her saying that made him blush a little. Derrick hadn't always had feeings for Angel. She was dating his younger brother, Drew. Shortly after Drew confessed to her that he was married, Angel discovers that she was pregnant with his baby.When Angel showed up at Derrick's house because she thought Drew lived there and she wanted to tell him that she was pregnant, but she ended up talking to Derrick, who told her everything that Drew was doing.

When Derrick was having this talk with Angel, something told him that Angel could use his help. He didn't like the way his brother had treated her. Drew shut Angel completely out of his life, leaving her in a traumatic position.

Angel had already had a bad relatinship with Jordan, the father of her first two children. Things had gotten worse when she threatened to break his relationship with Mya and get him back, but he made it clear to her that he didn't want to be with her. After trying to get Jordan back, she tried to talk to Drew about the baby, but he shut her out, not wanting anything to do with her. That's when she met Derrick. In her situation, Derrick saved her. Being by her side through her pregnacy, she gained feelings for Derrick. She knew he had feeling for her, but she wasn't too sure if they could be together because she's carrying his brother's baby.

He disliked his brother for the way he's been treating woman, especially his wife. Although Drew's wife, LaTrice, doesn't care for Derrick, he feels sorry for her.

"I'm just doing what I feel right to do." He responded. 'I know I'm not the father of the baby, but I want to be a father figure. I want to be someone your baby could look up to. I don't want you to go through this alone, Angel." He spoke softly.

"Derrick, you don't have to do any of that." She said.

"I know I don't, that's why I said that I want to do those things. Just like I want to be with you." He paused, seeing how she would react to what he said. "I want us to be a family, if that's not what you're ready for, I could wait."

His words left her speechless. All she wanted was to have a family, but it wasn't working the way she planned. "How about we have this discussion over dinner tonight?" She suggested.

He threw his hands up, flashing his smile. "That's fine with me."

When they were finished eating, they took a walk in the area.
