Mya stood a few feet from Jackson after he confessed what happened to Destiny. "You what?" Her chest heaved up and down as she stared at him in disbelief. Her body began to shake.
"Mya, I'm sorry. It was truly and accident. You have to believe me." He begged.
"You shot my baby cousin. You shot her!" She yelled.
Jackson saw people looking at the two of them. "Mya, please calm down."
"No!" She cried. "My cousin is in the hospital because of you!" She stepped closer to him. "She could be dying!" Mya paused and rubbed her belly. She began taking deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" He asked, reaching out for her.
"No." She sat down. The last thing she wanted to happen was her going into an early labor or anything. She broke down into tears. "Is she okay?"
"I don't know. They told me they'll let me know something as soon as possible." He responded. "I'm really sorry."
She looked at him with tears in her eyes. "What happened? How did this happen and don't lie to me." She demanded.
"I was trying to save her. I was trying to get her away from Trent." He replied.
"And shooting her was the way?"
"Mya, it wasn't like that." He sighed. "Destiny and I were at her house trying to get some of her stuff and then Trenton and Allie showed up and things went downhill from there." He explained.
"Who's Allie?" She asked.
"My cousin, who's the girl Trent's been messing with, who pretended to be Destiny's friend." He answered. "But everything got out of control when they showed up."
"How?" She asked.
"I told Destiny we could leave and she could come back for her stuff but things got ugly. Trenton had a gun on me, then I had my gun on him and Destiny had his gun."
"That doesn't sound like Destiny." Mya said.
"I know it doesn't, but that's what was happening." He said. "She had the gun at him and he began to manipulate her and then she pointed the gun to Allie." Jackson was going by his memory. "I fought Trent off, and tried to get Allie and Destiny out of there, but Trent was up again and he was going to make a move, but I didn't know how. I was distrcted for a slight second and then he came charging at me, fighting for the gun, causing me to pull the trigger," Jackson took a deep breath, "which is the reason why I accidentally shot her."
"What did they do?" Mya asked. "Where are they?"
"They walked away. I told them to call 9-1-1 while I accompany Destiny, but they walked away, so I brought her here by myself. I wanted to call sooner, but I didn't to be distracted from her again. Mya, I'm sorry. I'm very sorry."
Mya could tell now that Jackson didn't mean to shoot Destiny, but this was her baby cousin. Something this terrible happening to her will effect her in so many ways. She'll have to be the one to call her family and tell them what happened. She won't even have much of a story to tell, but she'll have to tell them.
A doctor approached Mya and Jackson, and Jackson stood. "Mr. Reed," the doctor spoke.
Mya stood next to Jackson.
"Um, is this the Mrs?" The doctor assumed.
"No," Jackson replied.
"I'm Destiny's cousin, Mya." May said. "Is she going to be okay?"
The doctor couldn't give a hopeful look. "The bullet was very close to her heart. She's alive, but her condition is extremely critical."
Mya's heart dropped. "Is there a chance of survival?" Her voice cracked.
