"Come on Cas, push!" Mya motivated as she held her best friend's hand.
"Ughhh!" Cassie groaned as she tried to push her son out. When she was done, she let out a relief breath, throwing her head back on the pillow.
Chris rushed into the hospital room. "Baby!"
"Chris is here." Mya said.
Cassie let out another groan as she rolled her eyes.
"Baby, I'm sorry I'm late." He stood at her side. "I'm here now, so everything is okay.
"I feel another one coming!" Cassie yelled as she grabbed his hand, squeezing it with all her might. "Agghhhhhhhh"
"Okay, Cassandra, we're gonna need you to push again." Her doctor said. "Ready? One, two, push!"
"Uggghhh!" Cassie pushed again.
"I see the head. Let's push again."
Cassie took deep breaths in between her pushes. "This is the worse pain I've ever felt." She cried.
"It's alright baby."
"You shut up! Until you're in the bed, giving birth, you can't speak." She fussed.
"Come on," her obstetrician said, "another push. He's almost here."
Cassie squeezed her eyes shut as she pushed again. Her son came out on that push.
"We got him!"
Suddenly Cassie relaxed her body.
"Here's your baby boy." Her doctor had the baby covered and placed him on Cassie's chest as he cried.
Cassie laid eyes on her son and cried. "Hey baby boy." She said. "Mommy loves you."
"Man," Chris admired his son, "my little man."
Mya took a few deep breaths. She gave her god son a glance before heading to the door.
"Mya, where are you going?" Cassie asked.
"I, uh, I'm about to call Jordan." She said without making any eye contact.
The moment she stepped out the room, Mya began to hyperventilate. Her breathing caught a nurse's attention.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" The nurse asked her.
Mya held her phone up and shook her head with tears flowing down her face.
"I," she continued to breath hard and faster.
"Have a seat." The nurse guided her to the nearest seat. "Relax." She said in a smooth, calm tone.
"Call my husband," she managed to say as she handed the nurse her cell phone.
The nurse took Mya's phone and looked at it with confusion.
"First name," she breathed, "in the call log."
The nurse found Jordan's name and called him. "Relax." She continued to calm Mya down.
Mya's breathing began to become stable.
"Hi," the nurse spoke into the phone, "I'm nurse Fields here at Touro hospital. I'm here with your wife. She started hyperventilating." She explained.
"Could you put the phone on speaker?" He asked.
"Alright," she pulled the phone away from her ear and put it on speaker. "Your husband is on speaker." She told Mya.
"Baby?" He said. "Baby, just breath, alright. You will be okay."
Mya took a deep breath and after a few moments she was able to speak.
