Mya walked into the dance room at Cabrini high school where she taught dance. She knew her students would be surprised to see her in the room. She'd already had a nice welcome back from some of the other staff members and she was expecting that from them, but she wanted to see what kind of welcome she would get from her students.
Walking through the dance room, most of it looked the same. There were a fews signs on the walls and mirrors made by some students. We Miss You Mrs. Green, was written on the mirrors with dry erase markers.
She'd known her dancers at Cabrini for a short period of time, but she knew that they loved her.
Mya was glad that the girls kept the dance room looking decent while she was away.
"Mrs. Green?" Mya saw a girl in the room and one was Heather, her team Colonel.
Mya flashed a smile.
"You're back?"
"Hey Heather."
Heather greeted Mya with a hug. "We weren't expecting you to come back at all." she said.
"Why not? I never said I wasn't coming back."
"Everytime we would ask Principal Clay or our principal Choice, they'd tell us that they didn't know when you were coming back." she answered. "We thought that was their way of telling us that you weren't coming back."
"They didn't know when I was coming back because I didn't know." Mya responded. "But I'm here now."
"Great! I was tired of subs with the lame worksheets on dance techniques and boring movies." Heather showed a dull face. "I'm ready to get back to dancing for real now! I hope you're ready too." she smiled.
Mya let out a laugh. "Just give me some time to warm up."
"You're the coach. You don't need to warm up. I'm sure you were born warmed up for dance practice." Heather joked.
"Heather, go to class." Mya laughed as Heather walked to the door.
"See ya in seventh period." Heather waved as she walked out the door.
Her first day back at Cabrini was a success, she almost felt as though she had never left. Her students were just as excited to see her as she was to see them.
Now, it was time to head to her studio for the evening. For the first time in a while she felt excited about something. When she arrived, her senior group was rehearsing. She was able to sneak to her office for a minute. When she walked out she was stopped by Veronica.
"Mya?" Veronica was shocked to see her.
Veronica looked a little different.
"Hey, Veronica." Mya smiled.
"When did you get here? I didn't know you were coming!" she said, hugging Mya.
"I'm working on this new thing, surprising people." Mya chuckled. "But look at you. You're hair!" Mya pointed to Veronica's burgundy hair that was shoulder length in sprial curls. Veroinca had long, dark hair for a while, but burgundy was working for her.
"It's something different." Veronica fiddled with her hair for a moment.
"It looks great. You look great! I see a certain glow," Mya narrowed her eyes at Veronica with a smirk, "but we'll talk about that later."
Veronica laughed, "the girls are waiting for me." Veronica tried to get out of talking about that subject with Mya.
"Let me go with you. I miss my babies."
