Coming home from a long day of work, Jordan had a lot of paperwork to go through. Him not having the kids this day worked in his favor because he needed to focus on his work at the moment.
Mya later came home and went into his office. "Hey Hun." She walked to side of him and gave him a kiss as he stood to greet her. "Working?" She asked.
He sighed, sitting back in his black, rolling chair. "Unfortunately."
"Awe," she stood behind him and began to massage his shoulders, "don't stress yourself out, Pookie. I'll fix you something to eat." She suggested.
"I already ate. I just want to get this work done right now, okay."
Mya knew that was her cue to leave his office. She could tell by his attitude and body language that he doesn't want to be bothered. "Oaky."
She walked for the door and he spoke, "Can you do me a favor and grab my brown briefcase from the living room, please?" He requested.
"Sure." She said as she was walking out the office.
She'd gone into the living room and immediately spotted the briefcase. She assumed that he sat in the living room after work, watching the news.
She picked up the brief case and one side fell open, leaving a mess of papers on the floor.
"Ugh!" May sighed. She knelt down to pick up the papers, hoping she wasn't mixing anything up. As she was got close to clearing up the pile of papers on the floor, she spotted a photo of a baby.
"Who is this?" She mumbled to herself.
The baby was dressed in a pink dress that looked familiar to her. It was same dress that she's picked out for her daughter.
She flipped the photo over to the back side to see if it said anything. Her heart sank the moment she saw the name and date written in Jordan's handwriting, Hope Marie Green, and the date marked below her name.
Mya flipped the photo back over. Tears filled her eyes. It was the first time she'd ever seen her baby's face. Although Hope's eyes were closed, her facial structure made her a beautiful baby.
Her hair was dark, thick, and curly, accessorized with a matching pink bow.
Mya couldn't take her eyes off the photo. Her eyes were on her first born child. The child she could never get back. There are moments when she wished that she had given her baby a glance at least, but she couldn't bring herself to do it at the time.
She sat on the couch and cried, still holding on to the photo.
Moments later, Jordan came into the living room.
" Mya? What happened to you bringing my stuff?" He asked walking into the living room.
Before he took a look at her, he spotted some of his papers on the floor. "What the hell? I hope this shit didn't get mixed up!" He said with frustration. "Did you go through my papers?"
She stood up, facing him with tears in her eyes. When he saw her face, his heart softened.
"Where'd you get this?" She held up the photo.
"Where'd you get that?" He asked. "You went through my briefcase?"
"It was open when I picked it up and all this stuff fell out. When do you have this taken?" She asked. "How could you have this and not show me?"
"I wanted to show you." He answered. "I was going to show you, when I felt that you were ready to see it."
"Why would you keep this from me?" She cried as she looked at the photo again.
