Destiny made her way to the front door after hearing the doorbell ring. She and Trenton usually didn't have company, so she had no idea who was at the door.
She was surprised to see that it was Chris at the door. "Hey, Chris. What are you doing here?" She asked as she welcomed him into the house.
"Hey. Um is Trenton here?" He asked.
"No. He's out handling business." She said. "Want me to tell him you stopped by?" She asked.
"Nah." He said. "I actually came to talk to you." He said in a serious tone.
"Me?" She lead him into the living room. "About what?"
He took a seat on the one end of the couch and made sure he had her attention. He stared at her for a moment. "How are you?" He asked in a concerned tone.
"Um, I'm alright." She answered.
"I mean, how are you with Trent." He observed her closely.
"I'm fine with Trent." She wondered where Chris was going with his questions.
As he obsereved her a little more, he saw the ring on her finger. "Whoa." His eyes lit up. "What's that?" He satred at the ring.
"Um, Trent didn't tell you?" She asked, not sure if she should be the one to tell him, but now she felt she had no choice.
"Tell me what?"
"We're engaged." She admired the ring.
He sighed and sat silence for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say to Destiny because she seemed so in love with his brother. "Destiny, are you sure that you want to marry Trent?" He questioned.
He expression slowly formed into a frown. "What do you mean?"
"Are you sure that you want take that step with my brother? Why are you marrying him?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. I love your brother. I'm in love with your brother." She assured.
"Why? I know he treats you like crap!" Chris said.
"So is that's what this is?" She snapped. "Why is everyone so concerned about us all of a sudden? All relationships have their problems, but Trent and I will be fine!" She fussed. "I hope you're not here to try to talk me out of marrying him, because I'm not trying to hear that." She shook her head.
Chris stayed calm. Destiny had no clue what she's in for. "Trent is not the man that you want to marry. He's not the man that you should even want to be in a relationship with." He stated. As much as he wanted to tellDestiny about Melanie, he couldn't. That's something he couldn't speak of to Destiny.
"Why not? Can you answer that?" She asked with an attitude. "Why isn't he the man I want to marry, why shouldn't I be with him?" She asked.
"Just trust me. As his brother you'd expect me to edge you on to be with him. Trent isn't the guy you think he is." He warned.
"Look," She held her hand up for him to stop talking. "I know he has some issues, but that's not going to stop me from marrying the man that I love."
"Even if you know he'll hurt you?" He stared at her.
"If he does, he wouldn't mean to." She defended. "Trent doesn't mean to hurt me, I know he does't."
"He wouldn't mean to cheat on you?" He questioned.
Confusion took over her face as she stared at him. "Trent is not cheating on me." She said.
"How would you know?" He asked as though he knew something. "What makes you so sure?"
