It was lunch time and Ron was walking through the castle when he felt someone cover his mouth and drag him down a deserted corridor.

"Shh!" The attacker hissed in his ear.

The person let go.

"Wha- PAVARTI?" He exclaimed when he saw his girlfriends best friend standing across from him, her arms folded and a stern expression on her face.

"What- why?" He spluttered.

"We need to talk." She said forcefully.

"We'll talk then because in case you didn't notice, I'm the one who just got dragged off." He snapped.

Pavarti just rolled her eyes. "You need to be giving Lavender your full attention."

"I am!" He cried.

"No your not. You keep going after Hermione Granger."

Ron flushed. "No I don't!" He said, going even redder.

"Well it needs to stop. Lavender really likes you Ron, and you keep going after a girl who keeps pushing you away. It isn't fair on Lavender. Hermione is just jealous that you have found someone and she hasn't. Lavender is willing to give you all her attention. Books mean more to Hermione Granger than your friendship." She finished harshly.

Ron nodded. Pavarti left him standing there, wrapped up in his own thoughts.

She's right. Hermione doesn't want to be my friend anymore.

(A/N: Ron doesn't realise he loves Hermione yet, he just wanted to know why she suddenly turned against him.)

All the Gryffindors were in the Gryffindor common room.

"Hey Lav!" Said Ron, pulling his girlfriend into a hug.

"Won won!" She squealed, leaning in to kiss him.

Pavarti watched, smiling smugly.

On the other side of the room, however, Hermione was watching with a scowl.

"Hello hello." Said a voice in her ear that made her jump. She turned around.

"GEORGE!" She screamed.

"Hold up! I'm George!" Said the other twin.

"Both of you then." She snapped. "What do you want?"

"Nice to see you too." Said George sarcastically (again).

"McGonagall said no to a ball." Fred stated.

"Well what did you expect?"

"Not much to be honest." Shrugged Lee, who had just arrived.

"Come on, we need to show you something." Said Fred, tugging on her sleeve.

She reluctantly followed them, knowing that they could carry her there if she refused. "Where are we going?"

"Patience is key, my bushy-haired friend." Said George cheekily, earning him a slap on the arm and a glare.

"Ow! I now know how Malfoy felt." He whined, rubbing his left arm. Hermione let out a smile before realising her mistake and scowling again.

They stopped in the 7th floor corridor.
"Here we are!" Announced Fred.

"Let me guess... The Room of Requirement?" Asked Hermione, with a hint of sarcasm. Fred rolled his eyes as George stepped in front and started walking up and down; 1.... 2.... 3....

A door appeared and Lee opened it, gesturing for her to go in. Hermione walked through the door. She looked around her: the room reminded her of the Yule Ball but without the Christmas theme: with a huge dance floor in the middle surrounded by round tables, each decorated with confetti, flower petals and a rose in a vase in the middle.

Lee handed her a little piece of parchment, which was decorated with little hearts and gold stripes. It bore the words: "Valentines Day Ball" x3.

"You can keep it."

"Good isn't it?" Asked George, who was watching for her reaction.

She didn't answer so Fred started to speak. "If McGonagall won't allow a ball, then we decided to host our own."

"The house elves said that they would be happy to provide drinks but there was still one thing missing, so we asked for it, and it appeared." Said George.

"And what is that?" Asked Hermione, although she disapproved of both going against McGonagall and using house elves to help.

The twins and Lee led the way through all the chairs and tables, until the reached the opposite wall: where a huge curtain hung and a small door stood in the right hand corner. They walked through the door and the sight that greeted them made Hermione gasp.

"What? Have you never tested the boundaries of the come-and-go room before?" Asked Lee with a smirk. "Surely you would would have liked to research it further?"

They were stood in another room, except it didn't look like a room. It looked like a sort of grotto, with fairy lights and benches.

"Dobby helped decorate, of course." Said Fred.

"But why?" Asked Hermione. Surely they weren't planning on holding an actual ball?

"Valentines ball of course!"

"No Slytherins." Added Lee.

"And how are you planning to sneak out of bed at night?"

"With these." George pointed to a corner where various hats and scarves and gloves lay in a box. He grabbed a hat, put in on, then vanished. When he took it off again he was smiling widely. "And, you don't have to walk from your common room in a dress because through that huge curtain is the dressing rooms!"

"I must say- I'm impressed! Have fun!"

The twins frowned and Lee put his head down sadly. "But you are coming!"

"No I'm not. In case you didn't realise, but you need a Valentine to go to a Valentines ball." And with that, she turned around and walked out of the Room of Requirement.

Lee turned to the twins. "Now what?"

"Part two of plan completed."

"Now we wait." Shrugged Fred.
