Part 4

Ron stood, frozen. He needed to move but his feet were stuck to the ground.

He only moved when he heard shuffling behind the tapestry and realised that he had been stood for way too long.

I need to get out of here.

Ron turned and stormed off. He didn't know where he was going but he knew that he just needed to get away. The thought of Hermione having feelings for someone else was too much for him. Why did he care so much? He was still going out with Lavender. He shook his thoughts away. He didn't want to think about Lavender right now. He felt bad enough about the situation already.

————

The bell went, signalling the end of lunch.

Most of the class were already outside Hagrid's Hut when Ron arrived. Without looking at either Harry or Hermione, he went straight over to Dean and Seamus.

Hermione stared straight forward. He's being childish.

Harry wondered what on earth had happened. Ron wouldn't ignore him because of what happened this morning, would he? Or was there something else going on that he didn't know about?

Lavender wasn't talking to him for some reason. Ron barley noticed though, as he was too deep in his own thoughts. This made Harry extra curious, because Lavender was normally all over Ron.

————

By the time the bell had gone to signal the end of day, Harry was throughly confused. Ron wasn't speaking to him. Lavender wasn't speaking to Ron and Hermione didn't know the answer (for once) about why he was being ignored. He told Ginny his worries. "Don't worry about it." She had said, while they were sat together in the Gryffindor common room. "If it makes you feel better, I will talk to Ron about it."

Harry decided that he would talk to Ron himself so he got up in search of his best friend.

Ron was sat by himself in the Gryffindor common room, staring at the ceiling. He looked deep in thought but when Harry came in he sat up and faced him.

"Hi." Said Harry.

"Hey." Said Ron.

Harry paused, thinking about how to phrase his question. "What's wrong? You've been slightly off and you haven't spoken to me." He decided against mentioning Hermione for now.

Ron sighed. "It's not you, don't worry about that." He said. "I've just been thinking and I guess that-"

He was about to reveal his worries when the door behind Harry burst open and Neville walked in.

"Oh, sorry." He said sheepishly, realising that he had just walked in on something by the defeated look on Harry's face.

"It's fine Neville." Said Ron, getting up. "I'm just going down into the common room."

Harry watched as Ron left and sighed. He forced a smile at Neville and left after Ron, going back to Ginny to tell her what had happened.

————

Lavender was sat in the dormitory with Pavarti, talking.

"I don't know what to do." She said sadly.

"Well tell me what's wrong and maybe I can help." Said Pavarti kindly. She had an idea with where this was going. She knew that Lavender hadn't spoken to Ron for most of the day and Lavender wouldn't do that without a good reason or unless something was on her mind.

"It's Ron," started Lavender, sighing. "He has seemed more distant, and, well, I think he's loosing interest in me. He doesn't talk to me or seem to want to spend time with me. He's always busy." Lavender let her feelings spill.

————

Hermione was walking up the staircase to the dormitory. She was going to open the Valentines Day present but as she came up to the door she heard voices. Tip-toeing, Hermione stopped and listened outside the door.

"It's Ron..."

————

"Oh Lavender." Said Pavarti, moving round to put her arm over her best friend. "Maybe he really has been busy, or perhaps there's something else going on. Maybe he needs the space and time to tell you."

"But what if that isn't true?" Lavender asked.

Pavarti sighed. She didn't really believe what she had just said and Lavender knew. "You can't force him to like you Lavender. It's not your fault. If he doesn't make the time to be with you then he's not the one."

Lavender nodded, she knew it made sense. "I should probably try to talk to him."

"I think that's a good idea."

"Now what about you and Lee Jordan? I know there's something going on." Said Lavender.

Pavarti went bright red. "Lavender!" She whined. The two best friends started laughing together.

————

Hermione slowly moved away from the door. She wasn't going to go in there and ruin their moment. The bad part of her felt happy that Lavender and Ron were having problems but she scolded herself and told herself that she was happy to see the two best friends sharing happy times together, as her, Harry and Ron had once done. She smiled sadly and turned back around, heading back to the common room.

Sorry for another late update. The past month has been quite tough. I've had family and exams to think about.

This chapter took a while to write but I was thinking of ideas and I wanted to take this chapter down the friendship route. I wanted to show the relationship between Lavender and Pavarti and Harry and Ron. The chapter isn't as long as some of the others but this chapter sets up the rest of the ideas that I have.

I hope you liked this chapter. Please vote and comment. They inspire me to write

I'm in the middle of my mock exams so please understand that I'm going to be busy studying. I will finish this book. I have some ideas that I'm looking forward to sharing so please comment and tell me what you think of this chapter!

Thank you!
