Thursday- part 2

Ron was already at the trap door leading to Professor Trelawny's classroom when Lavender arrived. Pavarti was no where to be seen as she had been pulled aside by Lee. In her normal state, Lavender would be excited for her best friend but now, only thoughts of her red-haired boyfriend were stuck in her mind.

He had his back to her and Harry was carefully avoiding her eye. She folded her arms and turned away from them. She was so stuck in her own thoughts that she didn't even greet Professor Trelawny as she usually would have done, causing some of her class mates to give her worried looks. She ignored these looks, however, and swept up the steps without a single glance at anyone.

Professor Trelawny was just closing the trapdoor when a dark-haired figure stumbled through the hole in the floor out of breath.

"Sorry- Professor." Gasped Pavarti, clutching a stitch in her side.

Pavarti made her way over to Lavender as the Professor closed the trap door.

Professor Trelawny started talking and Pavarti took the opportunity to whisper across to Lavender. "Did you speak to him?" Lavender stiffened even though Ron's name hadn't been mentioned and she shook her head.

Pavarti sighed. She didn't question her best friend any further because she didn't want to upset her so she pretended to be listening to Professor Trelawny while deep in thought. Clearly Ron was avoiding Lavender carefully.

"Turn to page 64 and use the following chapter to make the link between dreams and palms." Said Professor Trelawny in her mystical voice.

"How can I make a link between them when both tell me that I'm going to die in a different way?" Said Harry, as Ron laughed.

"Maybe you've got to pick your death. Or maybe it just means that there's 2 ways you can possibly snuff it." Replied Ron, chuckling as he opened the dusty textbook. "Ahhhh, the link between dreams and palms are crucial in enhancing your Inner Eye." He said in an imitation of Professor Trelawny.

Harry burst out laughing. Two rows behind them, Lavender frowned.

"I don't think that's very funny." She said, loud enough so that Ron could hear.

The people around them went silent as Ron stiffened. He didn't turn around as he replied. "I'll get permission next time I want to have a joke, shall I?"

Lavender's eyes narrowed at the back of his head. Professor Trelawny came bustling over, the many beads hung around her neck clattering against each other in protest of the disruption to her class.

"Carry on!" She told them as she turned towards Lavender and Pavarti.

The Professor gestured towards Lavender's hand. "Ah, yes dear." She said, taking Lavender's outstretched hand into both of her own and leaning closer to get a better look at the lines upon her palm. "Now, tell me about your most recent dream." The Professor said. As Lavender told the Professor about her troubled sleep, Ron leaned over the book in front of him.

Harry stared at Ron's palm.

"Find anything interesting?" Grumbled Ron.

"Yeah, the slight sheen would suggest a light layer of sweat which would indicate that the room is too hot." Said Harry as Ron burst out laughing.

"You are deeply troubled." Said Professor Trelawny in a thick voice to Lavender, patting her hand. "You alone know what you must do." She said.

Lavender nodded, deep in thought as Professor Trelawny swept away, her many beads rattling.

She stopped in front of Harry and Ron's table, looking down at them. She gestured for Ron's hand and he gave it to her, quickly wiping his hand on his robes.

"You suffer from an internal conflict!" Exclaimed Professor Trelawny after a pause, causing Neville, who was sat next to them, jump so much that he fell off his chair. "You will have to choose carefully!" She exclaimed wildly.

Ron pulled his hand out of her grasp, scowling. "Yeah, thanks." He mumbled as she retreated, his fist clenched.

Lavender, Pavarti and Ron were all unusually quiet for the rest of the lesson, each of them wrapped up in their own thoughts.

The bell went to signal the end of the lesson and everyone descended the staircase.

Pavarti was so deep in thought that she didn't even notice Lee as she walked down the corridor until he ran in front of her to get her attention.

"I'll see you in class." Mumbled Lavender as she carried on walking, allowing the sea of students to carry her into the charms classroom.

"Are you okay?" Asked Lee, his voice concerned.

Pavarti nodded. "Listen, I need your advise..."

They went down a concealed passageway protected by a door pretending to be a wall and Lee listened to Pavarti speak.

Together they formed a plan that might just bring the solution to their problem.
