Part 3 (still Tuesday).
Harry walked into Divination late and Professor Trelawny glared at him through her overly-large glasses.
"How nice of you to join us my dear." She said cooly, her beads rattling in frustration at being interrupted mid-lecture.
"Sorry Professor." Harry said, still smiling. Ron looked at him curiously from the other side of the room, where Lavender was staring at him like he was the crystal ball they were supposed to be studying.
Harry cringed slightly at the dreamy expression on her face as she studied Ron and sincerely hoped that Ginny didn't look at him like that.
"Take a seat!" Said Trelawny, flamboyantly gesturing to the spare seat that Ron had saved for him. (How did he manage to persuade Lavender to not sit next to him?) "I was just telling the class about the art of the crystal ball!" She said as dreamily as Lavender's face as Harry took off his bag and sat down. As Trelawny continued her long speech, Ron leaned in to speak to Harry.
"Lavender said that she wanted to sit next to Pavarti." He explained, answering Harry's previous question. "Said that she didn't want to be distracted." He mimicked quotation marks around the last word and shook his head.
"It doesn't look like it's working." Pointed out Harry, gesturing to Lavender. Ron turned around in his seat to take a look. When Lavender saw him, she gave him a little wave and giggled. Behind him, Harry could see that Pavarti rolled her eyes. Ron grimaced in return and turned back to face the front of the class, where Trelawny was still describing how the "Inner Eye" must have a strong connection with the outside world with flamboyant gestures that almost knocked her crystal ball off the table.
Ron looked over at Harry again and frowned. "Why are you so happy anyway?" He asked suspiciously. Harry hesitated before replying. He didn't really want to tell Ron about him and Ginny yet.
"Malfoy got told off by McGonagall." He said, thinking quickly. Luckily, Ron didn't notice the lie and started to laugh.
"The inner eye must be focused. Would you care to tell us what's so funny Mr Weasley?" She said in an increasingly raised voice.
Ron's ears went red and he shut up. Lavender made a tutting noise as Ron scowled.
"Now, with your partner, turn to page 56 of the book and record what you see." Finished Professor Trelawny.
Immediately the room filled with the buzz of chatter as the class started talk. Professor Trelawny made her way awkwardly through the armchairs, checking on each groups' progress. When she got to Harry and Ron's table, her eyes widened dramatically.
"I see something-" she said, leaning closer to the crystal ball. Ron rolled his eyes behind her back as Harry waited to see what she was going to read.
"Hmm..." She muttered, just loud enough for Harry and Ron to hear. Ron looked at Harry and he shrugged in reply.
She straightened up and looked at both of them in turn. "Saturday will bring a new romance!" She declared.
"Erm...?" Said Harry.
"The crystal ball!" She said, a little impatiently. "Your inner eye needs to focus in on the balls energy!"
"Right... Focus..." Said Ron, trying to not laugh.
"What do you see?" Professor Trelawny whispered.
"Well... It's hard to tell." Said Ron, squinting closer.
The professor looked excited for a moment until...
"Wait... It was just some dust." Said Ron.
Professor Trelawny scowled as Harry fought back a laugh. She turned around and walked off, mumbling to herself.
The rest of the lesson passed slowly and when the bell finally went, Ron was one of the first down the trapdoor. Lavender came down next, attaching herself to Ron as soon as her second foot hit the floor.
"How was Divination?" Asked Hermione.
"Like it always is." Harry replied.
"So... How's Ginny?" She asked cheekily.
"Great." He replied, looking anywhere but Hermione.
She laughed lightly and shook her head. "Potions next!" She said.
Harry groaned. "Great."
Sorry this was a bit short but I have a few things planned for the next few chapters...
