Chapter 25

Part 8

As soon as the bell went, the class piled out of the classroom. Harry lost Hermione in the crowd of students as she rushed away to the Gryffindor tower. "I will meet you in the hall!" He shouted after her, although she had already disappeared around the corner.

Harry shook his head and smiled as Pavarti and Lavender started discussing who could've sent the mysterious gift. Ron was frowning behind their backs and Harry started talking about Quidditch to him, hoping to distract him.

By the time they reached the Great Hall, the news had spread to the Ravenclaws about Hermione's secret admirer. Even the Slytherins seemed to have found out.

When Hermione met everyone in the Great Hall, she was being bombarded with questions. "Who sent it Hermione?"

"It's a secret admirer. That's why it's secret." Replied Lavender and to Harry's (and everyone else's) surprise, Hermione laughed. Not a forced one, or a strained one, but a genuine laugh. It was light and musical.

"Have you got an idea of who sent it to you?" Asked Pavarti. Ron was listening in on the conversation but before Hermione could reply, Fred, George and Lee appeared. Lee had what looked like a blood stain around his nose.

"So." Said Fred.

"We heard that someone has got a secret admirer." Said George as the twins sat on either side of a slightly red Hermione. Lee sat opposite them, inbetween Lavender and Pavarti.

"What happened to you?" Asked Pavarti, noticing the red stain around Lee's face.

"Nosebleed." He shrugged.

"Come here." Said Pavarti, grabbing a napkin and gently rubbing away the red stain. When she pulled back, they were both very red in the face as the twins whistled.

"So Hermione," said Pavarti, changing the subject. "Who's the secret admirer?"

Ron groaned. "It was probably just some sort of joke." He said.

"Hush Won Won. You wouldn't understand." Said Lavender.

Hermione concealed a smile but the twins didn't bother to hide their smirks.

"Yeah. Shut up won won." They said in unison. Ron glared.

"I don't have a clue who sent the note." Said Hermione.

"What about Cormac?" Asked Lavender. "I heard he cornered you and asked you to the party!" She whispered across the table.

Ron chocked on his pumpkin juice. "He did what?"

"Oh yes, that's right." Replied Hermione ignoring Ron. "But I doubt he sent it." At that point, Ginny came over.

"Hermione!" She cried when she saw her. "What's this I've been hearing? You got a mysterious present?"

"For Merlin's sake." Grumbled Ron.

"The note said that there will be more to come." Replied Hermione casually. "Maybe we will get more of a clue then."

"Oh hello Hermione!" Said Luna.

Ron got up angrily. "How many more people want to come over and discuss a stupid Valentines gift?" He burst out. Everyone turned to look at him shocked, apart from Luna who looked as though she were watching a highly interesting Nargle.

"I think it's very romantic actually." She said dreamily.

"I'm leaving." He said, pulling his arm out of Lavender's grasp. "See you in detention." He spat before exiting the hall.

"Don't mind him." Said Fred.

"Yeah, just because he hasn't got a secret admirer." Added George which made Harry bust out laughing.

"He's got me!" Huffed Lavender.

"Ah, of course." Said George. "His not-so-secret admirer." He mumbled, just so Hermione could hear.

Hermione covered her smile and got up. "We should get to detention." She said to Harry. Harry said goodbye to Ginny and the pair left to make their way to Snape's office.

Ron's PoV:
I kicked the wall in frustration. I don't really know what came over me. I don't know why but I felt jealous when Hermione got the present. I shook my head. No, I was just tired.

Fred and George's PoV:
The twins exited the great hall together. When they got into the entrance hall, they high-fived each other and Lee.

"It worked!" Said Lee excitedly.

"Now all we have to do is wait until tomorrow morning." Said Fred happily.

"Exploding snap?" Asked George, as they made their way to the Gryffindor common room.

"I bet I can beat you this time." Said Lee determinedly.

"Bet you can't." Said Fred.

"11 sickles." Said Lee.

"You're on!" The twins said in unison.
