This is an extra Harry/Ginny oneshot that I decided to write in celebration of reaching 1k reads! You don't have to read it if you don't want to, it won't effect the plot. Enjoy!
(It is set during the lunchtime of the last chapter)
Harry looked across the late, watching the dark shadow of the Giant Squid underneath the water. Ginny Weasley was at his side, their hand intertwined. He then looked across at his girlfriend, who was watching a group of second years nearby argue over who could transfigure a tennis ball to the brightest shade of pink.
She sighed. "I remember when I was in second year." She said, staring into the distance as though daydreaming. "And by then I had already battled with You-Know-Who's younger self in my first year." She shuddered at the memory.
"In my second year, I saved my best friend's little sister from Voldemort's younger self." He said, smiling fondly at her.
"Always such the hero." She said, smiling up at him.
He looked down at her and smiled, gently brushing a lock of fiery red hair out of her face. "Well, I am the Chosen One." He replied cheekily, causing to Ginny smack his arm away and put her hands on her hips.
They looked towards the group of second years when they heard a small girl as she reached out her arm to stop a boy from waving his wand all over the place in frustration. "Stop! You're going to take someone's eye out!"
"Hermione said the exact same thing to Ron in our first year." Mused Harry.
Ginny turned back to Harry, her eyes wide with worry and guilt. "Do you think she will be okay- Hermione?" She asked.
"Don't worry about 'Mione. She will be fine." Assured Harry. "She's probably doubling the length of her History of Magic essay as we speak." Although he couldn't keep the guilt and worry out of his tone.
They walked closer to the edge of the water, under the shelter of a big tree, and sat down. Harry put his arm around Ginny as she rested her head on his shoulder contentedly and sighed.
"I think Fred and George are planning something." Said Ginny suddenly.
"When aren't they?" Replied Harry, closing his eyes and leaning back.
"No, about the party. I think it's to do with Ron and Hermione."
"Even if they are," said Harry, propping himself up to look at his girlfriend. "There's not much we can do about it. Ron is just as stubborn as Fred and George. It must run in the Weasley genes." He said, earning a glare from Ginny.
She sighed. "I guess you're right." Harry raised an eyebrow at her. "Not about the last part though." She added defensively.
Harry chuckled to himself. It felt so nice, being with Ginny. She was the sort of girlfriend that he could joke around with and have fun. She barely cried, unlike Cho Chang, and she wasn't clingy either, like Lavender. She brought out the best in him and with her, he could forget about all the drama that was going on around him, yet he still knew she would always be there for him if he needed to talk.
The bell went, signalling the end of lunch and Harry got up, pulling Ginny up with him.
"So, do I get a kiss then?" He asked her, looking into her dancing brown eyes.
"I don't kiss on a first date." She whispered, leaning closer to him, teasing him.
"This isn't a date!" Harry protested.
"Then you will have to take on one." Replied Ginny, leaning back and folding her arms across her chest.
"Then can I kiss you?" He asked.
"No, because it will be our first date."
Harry laughed, slightly disappointed.
"I best get to class then." He said, noticing that the students around them had all gone.
"Harry?" Asked Ginny when he started to walk away.
"Yes?" He replied, turning around to face her.
She ran forwards and planted a kiss on his nose before running off, laughing.
He stood stunned for a moment. "Ginny!" He shouted. She just turned around and waved, before she carried on running. He shook his head before making his way to his next lesson.
"Women." He mumbled to himself, but with a smile on his lips.
So that's it! I hope you liked it. If you did, please vote and comment and there may be more to come 😉
