PSA TO NEWCOMERS:
I started off this book over a year ago. Back then, my writing was dogshit. If you're looking for good writing, skip ahead to about After Five Years and on. It still isn't the best, but things do get better from then on.
NOTE: SOME SHOTS AFTER THAT ARE REWERITES OF MY FIRST FEW SHITTY SHOTS IF YOU WANT TO READ THE ORIGINALS, BE MY GUEST, BUT DO NOTE: THEY HAVE REWRITES FOR A REASON

Hiccup's POV
I was asleep in my bed. My own bed. It felt weird to live in my own house again. I brushed the feeling off and went downstairs for some breakfast. I found Dad sitting at the table with a serious look on his face. I looked at him questioningly.
"Son, we need to talk." Dad said.
"Oh no, please don't say you've decided to make me chief." I flinched.
He let out a laugh. "No, not yet. It's just that I want to talk about your future." Dad said.
"So, you're making me chief." I said.
"No, about your other future. A chief needs an heir, as you know." Dad started.
"What do you mean by 'heir'?" I asked.
"A child of course! One to call your own, and one day take over the village. But to have an heir, one must marry, to be able to have a child."
I went pale. "Dad, you're not saying,"
"What I'm saying is it's high time you got yourself a girlfriend."
"It is?" my voice cracked.
"Yes, preferably Astrid, or maybe you could talk Heather or Ruffnut into it." Dad said as he stood up and began to slowly pace around the room.
"And have Tuffnut or Dagur as a brother-in-law? No way." I said.
"Well, then, how about Astrid, you seem to care about her a lot, and didn't she kiss you like three years ago?" Dad asked.
I figured that it would be a good idea to tell him. "Hey, Dad?"
"Yes, Son?"
"I already have a girlfriend." I said.
"Who is it?! Tell me now!"
"It's, uh, A-Astrid." I said.
"HOORAY! You two should get married right away! I must be a grandpa now!" Dad boomed.
I didn't think it was possible, but I went even paler. "Dad, um, we've only been together for a month, and we're also only eighteen, I don't think it would be-"
"Who cares about time?! You obviously love her, don't you?"
"Yes but-"
"And she loves you."
"I guess but I really-"
"So do it! Tie the knot!" Dad boomed.
I laughed nervously. "D-Dad, while Astrid and I do love each other," I gulped. "We're still teenagers, and I quite honestly do not want to get married and start a family when I'm eighteen. Maybe once I've explored the world and become chief, but not when there's so much out there to explore, these things take time. And I'd like to at least have been with Astrid for a year before we get married and have kids." I said.
"I understand, son. Hey, does her uncle Finn know?"
"Um, we were actually going to tell him today." I said.
"Well, then, why don't you go do it!"
I nodded and ran out of the house over to Astrid's. I knocked on the door, and was relived that she was the one to answer.
"Morning, Hic." Astrid smiled. I groaned when she called me that.
"Would you please stop calling me that."
"Nah, I like it. Anyway, I was just about to tell him, you tell your dad?"
I laughed nervously. "Funny story about that actually, he really wants us to get married and have kids, like right now." I whispered.
"You didn't agree to that, did you?" she whispered back.
"No, of course I didn't, let's just hope your uncle doesn't have the same reaction." I whispered as we walked into the house.
"Ah, morning, Hiccup what brings you here?" Uncle Finn asked.
"Um, well, A-Astrid and I have something to tell you." I said as I nervously rubbed the back of my head.
"Are you two finally gonna come clean and tell me that you two are dating?" Finn asked.
Are jaws dropped.
"H-How did you find out?" Astrid asked.
"The twins are my main source of Hiccstrid news." Finn said casually.
"Hiccstird?"
"You two have much to learn."
