Set a few days after the events of HTTYD 2

Hiccup's POV

I can't believe it. I'm really, truly, actually doing this. I didn't really want to, but first off, everyone in the village has pushed me to. Second, Mom really wants to be a grandma before she gets blasted into oblivion. And finally, I could feel the ghost of my dad breathing down my neck to do it. I paced nervously around my bedroom, contemplating how I was gonna do this. I was so busy thinking, I didn't notice when Mom walked up to my room.

"Don't fret about it too much. I don't want to push you or anything." she said, smiling her nice, warm, smile.

"Thanks, Mom, I guess the thought of taking the next step scares me. A lot." I said, not breaking my pace.

"I understand. You should've seen your father on the day he proposed to me." Mom laughed.

Now I was interested. I stopped pacing and raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying that the great Stoick the Vast was nervous?"

Mom laughed. "He wasn't just nervous, his tiny beard was drenched in sweat!"

"Wait, how old was he when he proposed?" I asked.

"Hm, around twenty-one." Mom said.

"And he wanted me to get married and have kids at eighteen." I cursed. "So wait, you're saying that there was a time when Dad didn't have a beard?!"

"Yes, yes I am." Mom said.

"Okay, so that makes me feel a little better, but it also makes me feel worse. If the Stoick the Vast was nervous, what chance does a talking fishbone like me have?!"

"Oh, you'll be fine. It's not like she won't say no."

"Yeah, I guess. I guess I should probably go and um, propose to the girl." I laughed nervously.

I walked downstairs and out of the house to Astrid's. I knocked don the door, and her uncle, Finn answered. He saw my cheesy smile and knew immediately what I was going to ask.

"So, you're finally gonna tie the knot." he said.

"Is it that obvious? Or did the twins tell you."

"Yes, and yes. Astrid's in her room." Finn said as he let me in.

"Thanks." I squeaked as I walked up to Astrid's room.

"Oh, hey, Hic, what are you doing here?" Astrid asked upon noticing my arrival.

"Um, well, I want to um. take you somewhere, if that's okay with you." I squeaked.

"You seem a little jumpy today, something wrong?" Astrid asked.

"Nope." my voice cracked. "Just put on this blindfold and I'll guide you."

"Okay..." Astrid said as I put a blindfold over her eyes.

I nervously lead her to the cove. When I told her to take the blindfold off, she looked around confused, mostly by the fact that I was sweating bullets.

"Hic, what are we doing here?" Astrid asked.

I took a few deep breaths. She looked even more nervous.

"Hiccup, don't tell me you're dying..." Astrid said.

"Did the twins say that to you?" I asked.

"Yeah, but Snotlout said that it was gambling."

"Makes sense. Well, I'm not dying, and I most certainly do not have a gambling problem." I laughed.

"So, why are we here? You act like you're gonna propose or something." Astrid laughed.

I went fell deathly silent and my face turned as pale as the moon.

"Wait, are you?"

I gulped and nodded. Astrid went as pale as I was. We just stood there and stared for a while until Astrid finally spoke up.

"Yes." she whispered.

"Say what now?"

"Yes." she said a little louder.

"I'm sorry, it sounds like you're saying yes but-"

I was cut off by Astrid's lips meeting mine. I loved it whenever she cut me off with a kiss.

"So, I'll take that as a yes." I smiled.
