_______ // Mon-El \\
I have never seen Kara more frazzled in my entire life.
After getting the phone call from Winn, explaining that the National Alien Registry had been stolen, she had insisted on going into the DEO. I agreed that we should.
I remember how she got up, her shoulders tense and her eyes building up their blue comets into a wall that would hide her pain. Her tearstained eyes now had a set look that could kill with one glance. Her jaw was clamped shut in an angry notion. Kara had hung up the phone, and went around the corner to quickly change back into her Supergirl suit.
I patiently waited for her to come back into the room so that we could leave. I sighed, watching the area that she'd walked through to change. She was so much stronger than me. I wanted more than anything to help her. After discovering that her adoptive father was evil, she was hurt. I wanted her to be able to rest and allow herself to heal.
I snapped out of my trance when the phone had rung again. Seeing as Kara wasn't going to answer it, I picked it up, and slowly put it to my ear, just as she taught me.
"Kara's apartment, how may I help you?" I stated.
"Mon-El, you don't need to say that whenever you answer the phone," Winn sighed. "Only when you worked at Catco."
"Right," I grumbled. "We're going to leave to get to the DEO in a few minutes, by the way. Kara's changing."
"Don't have her come in," Winn argued. "She's gone through enough with Jeremiah today, and there's nothing she can do. I'm going to see if I can hack into Cadmus and delete the files before they can use them for anything."
"Shouldn't you have told her that when you talked to her?" I questioned.
She was going to hate me for making her stay at her apartment. Knowing her, she'd want to do anything and everything she could in order to help.
"Probably. But you can handle her."
"I can hear you," Kara shouts from around the corner. She walked into the room, pulling her hair out of the pony tail she had in seconds ago. I pushed the speaker phone button on the screen, and held it in between us.
"Kara--don't come in," Winn repeats.
"I'm not a child, Winn," Kara groaned. "I'm Supergirl. Not just some human girl who wants to help. I can handle myself."
"You went through a lot of emotional trauma today!" He exclaimed. "Give yourself some time to get over that. Right, Mon-El?"
"Mon-El is not available at this time--" I stated. Kara put her hand up in frustration.
"You only say that over the phone, too, Mon-El," She says. I smiled nervously, and stepped back.
"It's all tech stuff," Winn said. "Don't come in."
Kara bit her lip, and glared up at me. Her sea-blue eyes were on fire, a fury behind them. Seconds later, she sighed in defeat, uncrossing her arms.
"Fine," She grumbled. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye."
The line cut off, and Kara groaned. She went back around the corner.
There was the brief sound of clothes being thrown around, and wind behind whipped through the room. She walked back out, her pajamas back on.
"Where were we?" I asked politely. I collapsed back on to the couch.
Kara smiled sadly, and threw herself down next to me. Her arms wrapped around my abdomen, and my hand naturally made it's way to her back. We were back in the position from before Winn had called. Kara sighed, emotion somehow escaping her.
I couldn't put my finger on it, but it sounded a lot like happiness and sorrow all in one.
______ // Kara Danvers \\
I can't get shot. I can't be stabbed by anything (minus the small exception of a kryptonite knife). I can't be cut or bruised by anything.
But I can wake up with a huge pain in my back.
I groaned as I straightened out, realizing that Mon-El and I were still on the couch. We were still in the position that were in before sleeping; we'd obviously been exhausted. Mon-El's eyes shot open.
"What ha--oh shit!" He yells. I laughed.
"What?" I asked.
"I thought we couldn't feel pain on Earth," He said. Mon-El stood up and cracked his back, causing me to wince.
"Apparently we can still get sore backs from sleeping in uncomfortable positions," I sighed.
"Apparently."
He hoisted me up off the couch, pulling me closer to him. I quickly kissed him, and then put my hands up on his cheeks.
"I have to go," I whispered. "I'm going to go Catco and try to convince my boss that we need to write an article about the list being exposed."
"When did you come up with that?" Mon-El asked.
"I couldn't think about anything else," I explained. "I mean, yeah, it helped having you there to calm me down, but I can't just forget something like that. It helped me sleep."
"You're so strong," Mon-El mumbled. "I'll go to the DEO and help Winn and Alex in any way I can."
"Thank you," I nodded.
I kissed him again, longer this time. Electricity ran through my veins, an excited feeling I hadn't had since I met Adam. But the feeling was stronger with Mon-El.
"I'll see you later." I ran around into my bathroom, and quickly changed. To me it was minutes, and to him it was moments.
He raised his eyebrows when I walked back out. I smiled, and grabbed his hand. I squeezed it at alien force, that he could only feel.
