21. writing the truth

"Mo--Mike," I say. "Can I speak to you for a moment?"

An idea had struck me-- one that was pretty common in my mind.

Journalism was one of my favorite things in my life. Every since Cat had given me my job, I felt like I found another one of my passions. Whenever I had the chance, I knew that writing was something I should do. This opportunity presented itself. Not only would it help T'ayy, but I'd get to do my job.

Jacob nods, pulling at his fingers. He'd finished explaining what happened to T'ayy, and seemed upset. Mon-El walked into my kitchen with me, looking concerned.

"What is it?" He asked.

"You take him to the DEO," I demand. "I'm going to go to CatCo and write an article about T'ayy. Spread the word and get people to help look for her."

"Are you sure Snapper will let you do that?" Mon-El questioned. "Last time you wrote an article about Cadmus, he shut you down." I sighed, knowing he was right.

"T'ayy is my friend, and I just promised Jacob that I'd find her," I mumbled. "I have to try."

"Tell me if you need any help," He said. "I could try to convince Jacob to talk to Snapper--"

"No, I'll handle it," I respond. "Thank you."

"Yeah," Mon-El squeezed my hand for a moment.

We walked back over to Jacob, smiling at him sympathetically. I held on to Mon-El's arm as we approached him.

"Mike will take you to the DEO," I announced. "I have something I need to do."

"Okay," Jacob said. "Thank you-- so much. This means a lot to me."

"T'ayy is my friend too," I reminded him. "I wanna find her too." Mon-El nodded in agreement.

I pecked him on the lips, and grabbed my coat. I exited my apartment.

Hold on, T'ayy.

"Snapper?" I breathed, walking into the man's office. He was typing on a laptop, his eyes narrowed on to the screen. Snapper's attention was on it, blocking out the world.

"Excuse me?" I coughed.

After a few more seconds of typing, he slammed the laptop shut.
