Three Days Later
I groaned as I got off of Kara's couch, stretching my back. I wasn't sure what time it was, but the sun was leaking through the windows and placing its beams along her floor.
I got up and walked over to the fridge, where a cold blast of air awaited me as I opened it. I grabbed a jug of orange juice, and shut the door behind me.
It'd been nearly a week since Kara had been taken by Cadmus. I've been staying at her apartment for the past couple of nights; keeping it clean and making sure that her apartment is ready for her when she comes home.
It also reminds me of her.
Her scent is everywhere, intoxicating me. I like to look at the pictures of her from when she was a kid; my favorite is a picture she had taken with Alex.
I poured the orange juice in to a cup and took a sip. I had finished it pretty quickly, and went to pour more. Except there was none left in the gallon.
I normally went grocery shopping with Kara.
We'd go to a place called Walmart and find food. I'd always find the wrong brand and she'd pretend to be annoyed and grab the other one. I'd also make a lot of jokes involving the food, and her laugh would pretty much improve my entire day.
And then we'd go back to her apartment and she'd cook something that reminded her of food on Krypton. The way that Kara spoke of her home made me truly believe that she wanted to see the good in people.
I know she saw the good in me. I didn't deserve that.
I threw the gallon away and walked back over the couch. I grabbed the remote and turned on the television. She hadn't yet taught me how to change the channel, but the station was already on the news.
Over the past week, Jacob had come in several times, reporting the same thing. No one that he had talked to had seen Kara in days. Apparently they had found out she was Supergirl.
I had to admit, I was nervous. They knew that she was Supergirl. That means that they knew how to use her one weakness against her.
I'm not sure what I would do without her on Earth. She was the closest thing I had to home.
But alas, I knew that if anyone was going to get Kara out of Cadmus, it would be herself. She was stronger than all of the DEO combined, both physically, emotionally, and mentally. All she needed was a little encouragement.
