My fingers flew across the keyboard of my laptop. They danced along the letters, clicking like music. I bit my lip, and reread the statement I had written down.
I was writing a piece for my blog about the fall of CADMUS. I'd gotten quotes from Maggie, being a public officer, and had enough evidence to write a riveting story. I was excited to post it.
I continued to write. My mind was focused on the essay, running a million miles a minute. I had music playing in the background. It fueled my vocabulary. The sun streamed through the window, sending rays down on to be hard wood floors. I bit my lip, and continued typing.
Today was my definition of a perfect day. It was warm in National City— a rare occasion— so I had the windows open. I was wearing capris leggings and a work out tank top. I rarely wore this outfit, but when I did, I always enjoyed it. My hair was pulled back into a high ponytail.
I stopped my fingers, and scrolled back to the top of the article. My eyes moved across the screen, reading the piece I had written. I sighed, and decided I was actually happy with it.
I put my head up when I heard the door unlock. Mon-El came walking in, holding his set of keys. He took off his shoes, and walked over to me. He kissed me on the cheek.
"How was work?" I asked.
"The usual," He quirked. "I did miss you, though."
"I always miss you," I smiled. Mon-El had moved back in a few days ago. His touch still sent a shock down my spine.
"What are you working on?" He questioned.
"An article for my blog," I explained. "I was just about to post it— wanna read?"
Mon-El nodded excitedly. He loved reading my work. I slid over off my chair, and he climbed on. He scrolled up to the top of the document, and read it aloud.
"After months of reigning terror upon National City, the evil organization, CADMUS, has finally been put to an end," Mon-El read. "The group was notorious for kidnapping and torturing aliens, along with the local superhero, Supergirl. CADMUS was run by Lex Luthor's mother, Lilian Luthor, in order to create peace amongst humans and wipe out any trace of alien life on Earth. Detective Maggie Sawyer gave me the inside information, saying that activity from this group will never be witnessed again. National City, and the planet, can now host aliens without having fear that they'll be hunted. Now it's the citizens' jobs to make sure that they welcome these civilians into their hearts. While National City was once a place to be afraid of the unknown, it can now be a place to live to the fullest. "
