Everything was fuzzy.

I couldn't see clearly. They had chained me up from the ceiling, hanging me from my wrists. There were small cuts up and down my arms and legs, and I could feel the dried blood on my face. The world was becoming clearer to me, but Cadmus's intentions remained blurry.

"Lilian." I groaned. "I want to talk."

Silence replied back. I pulled on the chains, but that did nothing for me.

"Lilian, come and face me." I growl. "Now."

There was no response to my threatening message. I sighed, and hung my head lower.

But then the door opened. Lilian walked in, a smug look on her face. She had a kryptonite knife in her hand.

"Hello, Supergirl." She smiled. "Or should I say, Kara Danvers."

"What do you want from me?" I snapped.

"Was I not clear before?" Lilian smirked. "I apologize for not fully explaining."

I glared down at her, meeting her cold eyes. She walked around me slowly, as if she was assessing the damage to my body.

"You are a symbol of hope." Lilian sighed. "A light in the dark. The hero of all aliens and humans."

I huffed, knowing that she was about to spout some false shit about me.

"But by being the hero of aliens, you are forcing the destruction of humans." She spat. "Even if they are blinded by the smoke screen that is your so called heroism."

"And what you're doing is going to save everyone?" I exclaimed. "It's going to save the earth from its politics, its lies? Its violence?"

"You are the violence!" Lilian raged. "And now I'm going to stop it."

She turned to a rope on the wall.

"You remember Maxwell Lord, correct?" Lilian laughed. "Young man had great talent. He was headed in the right direction, until you turned him soft."

"He was never soft." I mumbled. My head was getting heavy. "If anything, the realization that not all aliens are bad made him stronger."

"Yes, well, he left his work behind, regardless of what he became." Lilian continued. "And we found some interesting research left in his lab."

She pulled the rope down, revealing a chair behind it. There was a small blonde figure laying in the chair, her hair scattered all over her shoulders.

The girl's eyes were shut, but her chest rose and fell. She had pale skin, and rosy cheeks. Her body was adorned with a ripped blue button up shirt, and dirtied jeans. There were cracked glasses on a table next to her.

"You remember Bizarro, don't you?"  Lilian snickered. I gaped at the unconscious girl.

"I thought that we destroyed her." I whispered.

"You did." Lilian laughed. "But you never destroyed Maxwell Lord's research on how he created her."

I thrashed on my chains, ignoring the searing pain from the electricity coming from them. The kryptonite reactors in the ceiling faded in an out, trying to keep my strength down.

"What are you going to do with her?" I screamed.

"Well, the first way to stop someone from being a hero is to destroy what encourages them." Lilian stated.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"If your family thought you were dead, then would you really feel the need to help everyone?" She explained. "If they gave up and moved on, what would you do with your life?"

Lilian moved up close to my face, our noses inches apart.

"I'd make it worth something." I growled.

Lilian stepped back and stared at my face.

"We'll see about that." She said. "Because that's exactly what I'm going to do to you. Let's see how everyone reacts to thinking you're gone."

It was the next night when Jacob showed up again.

This time he brought me a few slices of bread and another bottle of water. I ate it in silence as he watched me.

"How are things in here?" He whispered, not meeting my eyes. I wiped my mouth off with my sleeve.

"Not as bad when I have someone bringing me food," I mumbled. He scrunched his nose, and I coughed.

Jacob nodded, as though my actions had said something to him.

"I haven't been able to convince Lilian to let me see Supergirl." Jacob sighed. "We're running out of time. I don't know what she's planning."

"Are they going to kill her?" I trembled. "She's done so much for everyone--"

"Hey--hey," He reached through the bar and touched my wrist. "I won't let that happen."

I wanted to believe him.

"I have to go." Jacob looked at his watch. "I'll be back tomorrow night."

"Okay," I breathed. "Goodnight."
