His Reasons
'Kuya I'm sorry I didn't know.' Ava felt guilty because she thought her brother was betraying her, though he did it was for the right reason. She hugged her brother tightly.
'It's okay Ava.' Evan wiped his tears. 'I need to take you home.' He started the car as she watched her father walk into the cabin where Victor was left behind.
'Can I stay at your place for the night Kuya?' She asked, Ava didn't want to face her mother or her grandparents. She wanted to see Karlie and Elie.
'Sure, I'll just let dad know you're spending the night at my place. You're only spending the night, then you have to leave first thing in the morning. I don't want dad and his minions coming to my house and fetching you.' Evan said with authority. 'Sorry if I am being so firm with you. I just trying to protect my family.'
'I understand Kuya, but how am I going to get home?' That was her problem. Getting home cause she doesn't know how to drive.
'Here.' He said handing her a pair keys. 'These are the keys to my motorcycle it's yours now. I won't be needing it anymore cause your Ate Karlie is about to give birth soon.'
Back at the cabin Victor sat in the living room awaiting Mr. Montenegro. He sipped his whiskey in his glass and watched as Mr. Montenegro entered the cabin alone. He knew his minions were right behind the door, but Victor knew very well how he worked.
"By the looks of it you are already waiting for me." Victor didn't say anything only to watch as Alvin Montenegro took the seat right next to him. "You know Victor you had such a great life ahead of you. You were on your way to be a lieutenant of the Army. Your father the admiral would be so proud of you. I bet he doesn't know you're in this situation." Victor shook his head. His father never knew of his problems as his father was already dealing with so much with the Army. He was his fathers only child and son. "I could have you arrested for attempted kidnapping or possession of an illegal weapon but that's too easy. But just like you, I love Ava so I will let you off the hook. But don't think about coming back." He issued his ultimatum for Victor. Aldrin Montenegro wasn't like his father who resorted to violence when things didn't go his way. He did what was more comfortable for him which negotiating. For him that helped track his enemies. He was intelligent in his own right which feared the older generation.
"Knowing my father, if news were to spread he would sacrifice family for reputation. For the sake of Ava I am willing to leave the country." He drowned what was left of his whiskey.
"You know Victor if she wasn't a Montenegro I would let you date her but due to my family's superficial ways even the kids were affected. I really like you, but I don't want the Army to be looked at as scary in the eyes of the community. That's what my father will do if you were chosen by Ava. My father wants to turn this place into a totalitarian society. I don't want that so it's better to leave now before things get worse. I am not doing this just for Ava but for you as well."
"How will I leave unnoticed?" Victor asked.
"My minions are in charge of that. Right now Ava thinks you're dead and so that is what we are going to do."
"Fake my death?" Victor asked with confusion.
"Yes, some of my minions will take you the airport while the others here will pretend to clean up my mess. So go I need to do this. Sorry if I ruin your house."
As Victor walked out the sound of a gun shots went off. Nearly three were heard as he exited.---
Author's Note: Now that Victor is "gone" what will be next for Ava? Will Alvin Montenegro's plans be successful? Will Evan finally be at peace with the past or will there be more in store in the future? What's is next for Michael now that he knows he has to marry someone. All those will be answered soon!Czarina 💋
