Breakfast at Ava's
"Truth is....Michael is the father." Brandon blurted out. Michael filled with anger knowing fully well that was not the truth, but he didn't show any reaction. He wanted to know why his brother lied. What was Brandon's purpose of lying? His parents turned their direction to Michael waiting for him to respond.
"How can you be so sure I am the father?" Michael asked. His parents gave him a questionable look.
"How are you not the father?" Brandon asks. "You're the one in a relationship with her, it's pretty obvious that you're the father. Everyone knows, it's all over the papers." He adds, adding more scotch to his glass, giving his little brother a smirk. Michael looked at his brother, not backing down with a fight.
"Didn't you sleep with Cora, while I was on a business trip?!" Michael sarcastically asked. "Based on how many weeks she is now and how long that trip has been, it's mostly likely you are the father Brandon." Michael added smoking his cigar. A loud thump landed on the table. The boys looked at their mother whose face was red with anger. All of the Solis boys got scared. They have never seen this side of the Solis matriarch and this was a first. Ashley Solis always kept a calm demeanor and never showed anger to her kids or husband. She was always so calm.
"We all have a reputation to keep! So stop acting like children. The papers are leaning towards the idea that Michael is the father and honestly it's not hard to believe that." She looked at Michael with a look of forgiveness. "With Brandon trying to gain popularity for the upcoming election for district attorney, he needs to avoid any scandal. Michael father or not, you need to take control of the situation because we cant have this affecting your brother's election campaign." Michael got up from the dinner table placing his cigar on the ash tray located on the middle of the table.
"It's always Brandon! Brandon this...Brandon that! You guys paid for his law school, went to all his shows as a kid and went to all his graduations, and celebrated every achievement with him. Now you're asking me to clean up his mess all because he didn't strap himself when getting it in!" Michael exclaimed. "All this time I have lived in my brother's shadow. I tried my hardest for you to recognize everything I do, to acknowledge that you are proud of me and not once did I ever feel loved by you guys, I was just a mere accessory to you that you showed off to your colleagues. Today's so called celebration just confirmed that Brandon will always be your favorite." Michael stormed off. His parents and brother watched looking at him walk away not doing anything.
"We really need to do something about that boy." Carter Solis said as he sipped his scotch.
"That's the Montenegro's problems now." Ashely said looking at her husband.
"What about this scandal? This is going to affect my campaign run." Brandon said as he looked at his father in disdain. The worse that could him is his whole campaign not going through because of that scandal.
"Don't worry about that. I've got that covered." Brandon did not say another word as his watched his father fiddle through his phone. He already knew what his father was doing.
Michael was already sitting in his car, speeding off to who knows where. He was angry, upset, and hurt that his own family wasn't there to defend him. Not a single text or call was blowing up his phone he expected that but part of him wished his parents asked him to stay, but they didn't. He found himself driving up to Ava's neighborhood, where a guard was standing at his post. The guard immediately recognized Michael and let him in. When he reached Ava's house, he noticed all the lights were off. He glanced at the digital clock on the dashboard of his car, it was 11pm. To him that was still early, but he knew the Montenegro's were all asleep. He parked his car out on their drive away and slept soundly in his car.
