The Celebration
It was the day. The day Ava celebrated her 18th birthday. This wasn't an ordinary debut. It was one that will be written in the books. Usually a typical debut would consist of 18 roses and candles some of which are your friends and family. Ava's holds true for the 18 candles, as for the roses it's a whole other ball game. Her roses consist of 17 suitors each hand picked by the Montenegro and Valles family. With the 18th and last rose being her father Alvin who will present her to the rose she will choose.
The Onyx Hotel was reserved for the entire evening. Security was tight and access was only given to those invited to the event of the Montenegro heiress. Ava wasn't really fond about the idea of having a debut, she wanted a car, something practical, but being a Montenegro means having everything grand. Ava was different than her Valles and Montenegro cousins. She was more simple and pratical. She was the one who didn't care about where she slept, or what she ate. She was simply different which set her apart from all of her cousins combined. But she was still very close with all of them.
Nightfall hit and every elite from the town over and business partners came to celebrate the heiress of the Montenegro fortune. The press was present that night as well as prominent families. The theme of her debut was a renaissance masquerade. Since she was such a lover of renaissance art and literature her whole vision came to life, all thanks to her mother who knew her very well. The debut look like it came out of the scene of Romeo and Juliet. The balcony scene where Romeo came to see Juliet. Her favorite scene. The grand entrance was decked out in vines with little roses and little petals of roses going to the main venue. The each table had a beautiful 12" centerpiece all designed to replicate the Renaissance era. Her mother was very meticulous when it came down to the design and feel of her party. She wanted her daughter to love the party. Ava sits in her hotel room waiting as they call her signal to be downstairs in the ballroom. The constant waiting game bore her, it's a good thing she brought the book Hamlet by William Shakespeare to keep her entertained for the time being. 30 minutes later the signal was sent to her to go down to the main lobby where her escort would be awaiting.
On her way down she saw a familiar figure. Standing at 6'2, short jet black hair, and lean muscular figure. It was her Kuya Evan wearing a back suit with a royal red tie that matched her regal red gown. 'Kuya!' She happily cried. It's been a long time since she's seen him. She cried happily because she thought he wouldn't make it. 'I thought you wouldn't come.' She said still hugging her brother tightly.
'What kind of Kuya would I be if I didn't attend your debut?' He said sarcasticially. She laughed and wiped her tears. 'I thought after what happened a year and a half ago you would never comeback.' She said as Evan looked at his little sister.
'Your an exception baby. Tonight everything is at peace. Just don't get mad if something goes wrong tonight.' He said with some hesitation. He kissed her on the forehead and placed his hand around her shoulder. 'My little sister is no longer going to be my baby anymore.' He pouted.
'Kuya my makeup is going to run because of you.' Ava joked and the two waked towards the entrance of the ballroom. Ava locked arms with her brother as he put on the mask she made for him. She was really into arts and crafts especially when she was stressed that was when most of her creativity came out. Ava also put on her half faced mask she made. The doors opened slightly as camera flashed shot through her eyes. She wasn't use to being in the spotlight.
Fearful, she gripped her brother tightly. Feeling her grip Evan leaned to her and said, 'You'll get use to it after a while. Just pretend they aren't there and enjoy this moment cause after tomorrow it will all be gone.' After hearing her brother say those assuring words she lightly let go of her grip and walked with Evan to the front. Thank god it was a masquerade ball. No one would see the little sweat beads running down her face.
