A Cool Down

"Let's go on vacation Michael. Let's get away from everything for a week or maybe a weekend. What do you think?" Ava asked.

It had been a week since that kiss happened and since then, Michael couldn't contain himself. He knew that what he was feeling was lust, because he hadn't known Ava for a long time but what he was feeling was something he enjoyed. After all, they are married. He somehow wished though that he had gotten to know her more. This was all moving too fast for them, but with Ava going to university he is able to focus on himself and that means getting his act together in terms of getting to know his wife. He didn't want to know her from a sexual standpoint, but more as an emotional standpoint. He wanted to see how she reacts to situations that she may not have control of. Somehow this whole situation they're in is beneficial for the both of them.

"Yeah that sounds like a good idea. I'll have Maria clear my schedule for next week. I want to get out of here anyways. I have been stuck here at work and you have been studying the ropes of this business, so we deserve a week off just the two of us, away from the media and reality." Michael said as he wrapped his arms around his wife's waist. For the last week Michael and Ava were busy adjusting to the office lifestyle. Though they weren't officially living together, Michael would visit Ava's place and sometimes spend the night if he didn't feel like going home. They had gotten use to each other's presence and it wasn't surprising when they became a little more affectionate with each other.

"Where are we headed to?" Ava said as she and Michael loaded up the car.
"It's a surprise, just join me on the ride." He said loading up the last of their belongings.
"Can you just give me one hint at least?" Ava asked as she pouted.
"What I told you to pack should be a good hint as to where we are going." Michael stated as they started the car.
"All I'm going to tell you is that it involves an ocean." Michael added.

The hot summer sun radiated as they drove to the airport. Ava was asleep in the front passenger seat as Michael drove. Seeing his wife sleep is his favorite pass time. Every time he would spend the night at her house, he always made sure to set his alarm an hour before her alarm goes-off.

"Hey wake up sleepy head." Michael said as he shook her lightly to wake her up.

"Are we here already?" Ava asked looking at her surrounding. They were at the airport, but not in the terminal where you board your flight, but rather at the apron where all the planes were neatly parked. Two men who worked at the airport were loading the black jet with their luggage. She glanced once more at her surrounding and found herself starring at the familiar black jet.

"This is your dad's. He's letting us use this to get to our vacation spot. If you need anything just let the on-board stewardess know and she will help you." Ava's deep thinking was stopped when she felt the fresh air on her face along with Michael holding the door open for her.

"You know I am fine taking an economy flight or driving. You didn't have to do all this." Ava said as she got out of Michael's car.

"This was not my idea Ava, but your father and I had a heated discussion over how I plan to travel with you. He insisted on us flying, while I argued a scenic route as we drove, but I couldn't win with your dad. So here we are." Michael said defending himself he can already tell Ava was getting a bit annoyed. Ava didn't say a word, but rather nodded. She didn't have the energy to argue or complain, all she wanted to do was go back to sleep.

"Look on the bright side, we have immense privacy, and don't have to worry about stopping for bathroom breaks and snack breaks, we can easily do that on the jet." Michael said trying to dilute Ava's annoyance. Again, Ava didn't say a word as she climbed the stairs into the entrance of the jet. Michael can feel the tension as he entered the jet right behind Ava.

"Look whatever it is your annoyed with needs to stop. I can't have you be like this when we're going to go on vacation." Michael said with authority.

Ava turned to him and glared, " You sound like my father Michael. Quit with the authoritative attitude, it's not helping with my already foul mood." Michael scoffed.

"Stop acting like a child Ava! I just want this vacation to go smoothly. We have a lot things coming up and this vacation is very much needed because after this, it'll be a long time since we get some real R&R." Still with his authoritarian tone he looks at Ava explaining to her the meaning of this vacation. Ava stares at him and just walked into the private room of the jet. Michael squeezes the bridge of his nose, shaking his head as Ava left.

Ava cried in silence, she hated raising her voice at Michael or anybody, but she needed to. She wanted him to know what she was feeling, though it could've been communicated differently it is what it is. "How can you be so stupid Ava, you should be happy you're going on vacation. Not everyone gets to live your life." She said to herself realizing the argument they had was unnecessary and could've been prevented. All she had to do now was apologize, but she wasn't ready to apologize to Michael just yet. She wanted them both to cool down before doing so. The same went for Michael who was sitting in the seat next to the window as the plane took off for the sky.
