The Meeting
"I am glad you can meet with me on such short notice Michael. I know you're busy. But I am know your father explained to you what our meeting will be about." Aldrin Montenegro explained. Michael nodded fixing his blazer as he sat down on the chair as he listened intently to Alvin Montenegro. "As you know you are set to marry my daughter, I know this situation isn't ideal for the both you because 1) you're in a relationship with my niece, her cousin, Cora. 2) You don't even know each other that well 3) her and Cora don't get a long that great and 4) you were forced to do this." Alvin Montenegro explained.
"How will this benefit me? My businesses? My father never mentioned to me what the perks of this contract will be. All he mentioned was that I was to marry your daughter and to speak with you." Michael protested.
"First, the marriage will just be for show. The paperwork will be filed by us all you have to do is sign the liability clause and the pre-nuptial agreement. This will benefit you greatly because you will be Compensated immensely just for marrying my daughter." He explained to Michael.
"Just exactly how much are we talking here?" Michael curiously asks.
"See for yourself. If you don't like the price we can certainly negotiate a middle ground agreement." Alvin Montenegro said as he handed the contract to Michael.
"$500,000 a month just to be with her. Plus an extra $250,000 signing bonus. I feel like there's a catch to this. I know how you Montenegro's play. I am not going to be the next willing victim." Michael was smart, he knew how the Montenegro's played just to get what they want.
"There's no catch. All you have to do is marry my daughter by the end of the month and the money is all yours. You don't necessarily have to live together, just make sure the media gets coverage of you to. When the camera's aren't around you can go back to whatever it if you do." Michael was interested in the offer. By doing the calculations in a whole year he would be getting $6M. This was a deal he couldn't surpass.
"So what happens if we split, what'll happen to my compensation?" Michael asked. He was curious he wanted to know how this was going to affect him if that sort of thing were to happen.
"I will discuss it with the both of you tomorrow. I will also go over the implications and liabilities involved as well. As well as the consequences for breaking the contract." He said getting up from his swivel chair fixing his blazer. "I will see you tomorrow Mr. Solis." The two shook hands and Michael walks away with the draft version of the contract.
As he walks out of the Aldrin Montenegro's office he sees his wife to be walk past him. Her long black hair flowed nicely down her back. And her red bodysuit wrapped around her body well, exposing her curves. She was dressed well for someone who had just turned 18. She had a sophisticated look. A look that blew his mind. He stood in his place as she walked past him.
"Miss Ava, your father is waiting for you in his office." That was what Michael heard as he walked out of the 11th floor building.
"How are you feeling my dear?" He asked as he kissed his daughter on the cheek.
"I am good dad. The bruising is going away slightly but I can manage." She said to her father as she sat down.
"As you know you will meet with Michael Solis tomorrow to discuss your marriage contract. I won't go over the details today. But I brought you here because today is your first day of training." Ava sat there nonchalantly listening to her dad as he spoke.
"Each month you'll work in a different department and have a different position. As the heiress to this empire, you need to know this company from start to end. This month you will work as your mother's personal assistant. She will tell you everything your job entails." Her father explained as he kept his attention towards his daughter who sitting right in front of him quietly listening. "I know this isn't ideal for you cause you wanted to go to college and study literature. I am grateful that you cooperated with me and your mother."
The next day Ava and Michael arrived at the office of Alvin Montenegro. The two awkwardly walked in together and you could feel the awkward vibe that surrounded them.
"You two are early." Alvin said to his daughter and future son-in-law. He kissed his daughter on her cheek and shook Michael's hand to greet them. His hands gestured to the chairs in front of his desk signaling them to sit.
"Well the earlier we start the earlier we leave." Michael said. He really did not want to be there, but Alvin Montenegro's offer was not one to pass up. He had wished his brother Brandon would be in his position since he was fond of Ava, but somehow through random circumstances he got into this mess. Michael briefly looked at Ava who was seated next to him on his right. She held a straight face as her father began to speak. He noticed the discoloring on the side of her face. Ava had tried to so hard to cover the bruise with makeup and her hair, but it seems that Michael saw it.
"I assume you both have read your respective contracts?" Alvin asks Ava and Michael. The two nodded simultaneously. "Okay so I guess I don't have to explain what the contract entails. However, I need to go over the breach of contract, which if you refer to the last page states the consequences. But I will simplify it for you." He said as the two flip through the 3 page contract.
"If one or more parties fails to fulfill any obligations, or commitments it will end in a breech of contract resulting in numerous legal consequences. If you guys both agree to follow this contract we will proceed with the contract signing." The two were silent as the pen hit the paper. They penned their names on each section they were told to sign. "Okay, so this meeting is adjourned. I will see you guys next week, same time, same day. To discuss the marriage."
