'Ava are you ready?' Her mother asked as Ava sits in her vanity applying her makeup.
'Just give me a few minutes mom.' She tells her mother who's standing at the door of her room as she lands her foundation brush to her face. Ava was independent, that's how her parents raised her and it was no surprise that she would be doing everything on her own especially on her big day.

'The car arrives in 15 minutes. You still haven't put on your dress yet.' Her mother stated. Even though it was Ava's big day she knew what was to come during the whole event. She wanted to spend the last moments with her daughter before her freedom is given away.

'Ava your no longer a baby anymore. I just hope your Kuya can attend.' Her Kuya Evan was in the same situation she was going to be in not to long ago.

'I hope so too. I haven't seen him for almost two years. I just hope he comes to celebrate my big day and put whatever he was dealing with in the past for tonight.' She sighed heavily still facing her mirror wearing her silk pink robe with her name engraved on it.

Ava never knew why her brother suddenly left. He just left ithout notice and her parents never said a word. She had accepted the fact that her Kuya left. Until now there hasn't been any communication since then. Mrs. Montenegro understood why he her son Evan left. Because she too at her daughter's age was bound by a fixed marriage she had no control over. The same went for Evan.

The Montenegro's were the so called 'royal family' They had influence over every little decision. Alvin Montenegro is the president of Dreamland Corporation and mayor of Eagle Valley. With his power everyone looked up to him. Elena Valles Montenegro is the daughter of Diego Valles, a rich oil tycoon. It was because of the Montenegro's why the Valles became very rich. As a kind gesture towards the Montenegro's, Ramón gave his only daughter to them to secure both names. Elena and Alvin wedded not too long after. It was a marriage that built on hate not towards each other but their parents. Like said previously, it was one where they both had no control over. A year later Evan was born and 2 years later Ava was born. During that time a lot changed the Montenegro's lived a somewhat simple life. But even though it was simple they were massive celebrities in Eagle Valley. Everything they did was documented.

Because the two Montenegro children were born under the Valles and Montenegro name, their fate has already been pre-determined for them and 18 was a number every Montenegro and Valles child feared. For Ava it was a number she cherished because she didn't know what that number meant in her family. Her mother did her best to not tell her about being 18.
