When Shigure got to the hospital it was all over; Mimi had lost the baby and was inconsolable. Ritsu got off the bed when Shigure walk into the room so he could sit next to Mimi.

"Have you been able to get hold of Hatori?" Shigure asked heartbroken when he saw Mimi.

"No. We have been trying like mad but his phone keeps going to voice mail," Yoshi replied.

Shigure sat on the bed next to Mimi and stroked her hair; Mimi immediately wrapped her arms around Shigure and started sobbing, "It hurts so much." Mimi sobbed "I can't believe he's gone. My poor baby boy. It hurts..."

"I know. I'm so sorry Mimi" Shigure said holding her. He couldn't think of anything to say or do that would help so he held Mimi as tight as he could.

"The baby was a boy. They made her deliver the baby without any painkillers, and because the baby was so underdeveloped they could do nothing to save him. The poor thing fought to stay alive for three hours before he passed away," Yoshi said wiping the tears from his eyes. He had been by Mimi's side for the whole ordeal and retelling it killed him.

He then pointed to the little crib on wheels that was in the far corner of the room with a little blue bundle in it. "They want her to say good bye before they take him away, but she refuses to."

Shigure said "Why don't you two go and get some rest. I will stay with Mimi and try to get in contact with Hatori."

Both Yoshi and Ritsu agreed to get some rest and come back in the morning. Mimi lay there clinging onto Shigure, like he was a life raft stopping her from drowning in the sea of pain, sobbing into his chest, and Shigure held Mimi in his arms gently rocking her. Neither of them talked for what seemed like a very long time but in actual fact only half an hour had passed. Then Mimi looked up at Shigure with her red tear soaked eyes and said "You don't know how much I wish that you were the father. I am a bad mother. If I had been a better one, then my baby would still be alive."

Shigure couldn't let Mimi do this to herself and he held Mimi at arm's length then looked directly into her eyes and said "Stop this nonsense right now. You were willing to sacrifice your own happiness so that your child could have both his mother and father. I am so sorry that he died but you are far from a bad mother."

Mimi started to sob again, she was hurting so deeply. Mimi did not know how she would ever get over the pain she was feeling.

Shigure noticed a doctor standing by the door and once the doctor saw that Shigure was looking at him, he signalled at Shigure to come to the door. Shigure gently let go of Mimi and told her he would be right back.

The doctor took Shigure out into the hall way. "Has Kanzaki-san said her goodbyes to the baby yet?" The doctor asked kindly.

"No I really don't think she is ready yet," Shigure replied.

The doctor nodded "I am sure she's not, but unfortunately we are going to have to take the baby down to the morgue soon, and I really think for Kanzaki-san's sake she needs to say good bye Kanzaki-sama."

Shigure liked the doctor's mistake but did not show it. "Although I am Kanzaki-sama I am not her husband."

"Oh very sorry. Well it would probably be best if you could get him to come and say good bye soon as well," The doctor said a little embarrassed by his mistake because in all the time Mimi was his patient he had never met Hatori.
