It was the eighteenth of June and three months after Jinpachi attacked Mimi she was finally able to pick herself back up and start to feel semi-normal again. The cuts had healed and the scars that could be seen were fading. Mimi was very lucky because none of the cuts on her face left a scar and the long cut across her jaw line healed better than expected and it didn't leave a mark.
Mimi was sick of living in her house because it felt like a tomb for all the memories she shared with Hatori. Both Dr. Ochiai and Mimi agreed she needed to get as far away from it as possible to help with the healing process. So, on a whim she got in her car and started to drive. She didn't have a destination in mind but she thought she would drive along the coast and see where it took her.
When she got to Izu Mimi remembered the house she fell in love with and on a whim Mimi decided to drive by it so she could see it again. Mimi focused her mind and tried to remember which roads to take to get to the house. It took her a while but she eventually drove up to the house and Mimi had to stop herself from jumping up and down when she saw it was for sale. Without even thinking Mimi went up to the house and knocked on the door. An old lady opened the door. She looked like she was in her eighties, she was very short and had lots of wrinkles and all of her hair was white.
She smiled at Mimi and said "Can I help you?"
Mimi got straight to the point "How much do you want for the house?"
The old lady looked at Mimi for a moment then replied "Sorry dear you're too late we accepted an offer two days ago."
Mimi was determined to make the old lady change her mind "I love this house and I will pay you more than what the other buyer is paying and I can even pay today."
The woman gave Mimi a sceptical look then replied, "Yes, well I would have to talk to my husband and children about it."
An old man walked up behind the old lady, he placed a hand on her shoulder and she gave him a loving look. This made Mimi feel all warm inside despite everything she had been through Mimi still believed in love and it always made her feel happy to see people in love.
"What is going on darling," The old man asked his wife.
"This young lady wants to buy the house. When I told her we already accepted an offer she said she would pay us whatever we wanted."
Mimi could see the Yen sighs flashing in the old man's eyes but she didn't care. Genma had given Mimi a lot of money for what Jinpachi did to her. Despite Mimi saying she did not want it many times and her ripping up a few cheques the money was transferred into her account in the end. Mimi had every intention of letting the money rot in there but now she figured she could make herself happy and the elderly couple happy in the process.
"That's right. Name your price I don't care I just want this house." Mimi said giving the old man a big grin.
The old man thought for a minute then figured he would say a ridiculous amount to get her to go away "Okay I want one hundred million Yen." The old man smiled and thought "That will get this crazy woman to go."
Mimi smiled back and said "Done. If you direct me to your lawyer we can get things going." Mimi would have paid a lot more for the house.
Both the old man and woman's mouths dropped open and the old man staggered back a little. He had to hold onto the door to stop himself from falling.
''Are you serious?" The old man asked.
"I promise you, this is not a joke. I fell in love with this house the last time I stayed in Izu and I would have bought it then but it wasn't for sale.'' Mimi answered trying to convey how serious she was.
Mimi knew the couple still didn't believe her, so Mimi reached in her handbag and pulled out her cheque book. Mimi wrote out a cheque for five million Yen and handed it to them.
The old lady took it as Mimi said "This is to let you know I'm serious. When you cash it and the funds go into your account. I want you to get your lawyer to call this number and ask for Ibuki-sama tell him Kanzaki-san is going to buy your house he will get all the paper work going and with any luck you can sell your house fast."
Mimi wrote Ibuki-sama and Kanzaki-san on the back of the card, the old man was still in shock but said "Okay I will deposit the money today and talk to my lawyer."
Mimi gave the old couple a warm smile then bowed and walked back to her car. Mimi was positively giddy as she drove back to Tokyo she could feel that everything was going to change for the better.
