"I can't believe how stupid I have been Rei, what the hell is wrong with me?" Mimi asked Rei as she shoved her clothes into her suitcase. Mimi had no idea if this trip would be long or short so was just grabbing whatever came to hand regardless if she was really going to need it or not.

"I don't know Mimi. Maybe you are still having trouble letting go of the past," Rei replied.

Rei had been sitting in Mimi's bedroom for an hour and she had seen Mimi pack and repack four times already and Mimi's room looked like a bomb site. Rei knew Mimi was in no state of mind to do much of anything and Rei felt it was time to take over the packing duties. Rei forced Mimi to sit on the bed and then started to sort through Mimi's clothes trying to find enough clothes to last a week.

"I know I just hope Shigure will take me back this time," Mimi said as she watched Rei repack her suitcase.

Ever since Shigure had left, Rei had to watch her friend tear herself apart and work through a lot of personal crap that she had been avoiding over the years. Rei knew that Mimi still had a long way to go but Rei also knew that Mimi needed to think about the worst case and prepare herself for that.

Rei felt that she had to bring it up so as she finished packing and zipped Mimi's suitcase up Rei looked at Mimi and gently said. "Look, I don't want to bring you down but what are you going to do if he won't take you back?"

Mimi did not want to think about it but she knew Rei was only trying to help so she replied, "Honestly I don't know, I can't imagine my life without Shigure in it, but if the worst happens then I'm just going to have to deal with it."

.............................

Mimi took a deep breath then unfolded her arms and pushed herself off the window. Then Mimi walked across the hotel room and grabbed her handbag and the key to the rental car and said "Wish me luck," as she left the room.

Mimi pulled into the drive way of Shigure's house. As she parked the car in front of his house, her hands started to tremble. Mimi took the key out of the ignition and managed to put it into her handbag, and then she rubbed her hands together to try to get them to stop shaking and said to herself. "Come on girl, you have come this far, you just have to face the music"

Mimi then got out of the car and walked up to the front door took a deep breath then knocked on it. A young and very beautiful woman answered the door and it took Mimi a moment to compose herself.

"Hi. Can I help you?" The woman asked Mimi.

Mimi smiled trying hard to hide any hint of her shock and hurt and replied, "Yes, my name is Mimi. I am a friend of Shigure's. Is he in?"

The woman gave Mimi a big welcoming smile and said "Really! I have wanted to meet more of Shi-chan's friends. Please come in. He's working but I'll get him. Why don't you wait in the living room? Oh yeah, how silly of me. I almost forgot, I am Fuyutsuki Misato."

As Mimi sat down on the sofa her heart started to pound and all Mimi wanted to do was run back to the car but before she had time to do that Shigure walked into the living room alone.

"So what is it that you want Mimi," Shigure said coldly.

Mimi could tell he was still angry with her because of the cold reception.

"I'm sorry I should have called first but I really had to see you." Mimi replied. Mimi then said trying to find out who Misato was without sounding like a jealous lover, "So I met Fuyutsuki-san. Who is she?"

"Not that it's any of your business but Misato's my girlfriend." Shigure replied carefully watching Mimi to see her reaction.

With those three words Mimi could feel her heart being ripped out of her chest, Mimi looked away trying to stop herself from crying and said "Oh really, are you happy?"

Before Shigure could answer Misato came into the room carrying a tray of tea.

As Misato set the try down Shigure said "I don't know why you brought tea. Mimi-san won't be staying long."

Misato looked at the two of them and said, "Surely Mimi-san can stay for some tea?"

Mimi could tell Shigure wanted her gone, and Mimi also wanted to leave because she was not sure how much longer she was going to be able to hold herself together. She said "That's okay Fuyutsuki-san. The last time I met Shigure we got into an argument and it seems he is still angry with me. I only came to apologise." Mimi stood up looked at Shigure then said "I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I was stupid and wrong and I only hope in time you can forgive me." Then she bowed deeply.

As Mimi started to walk out Shigure said "How is Hatori doing these days?"

Mimi looked at him trying to disguise her hurt expression and replied, "I wouldn't know. I haven't seen or heard from him. But knowing him, he's probably doing fine."

Misato then said, "That's your cousin right Shi-chan?" she then looked at Mimi, "Then that must make you the Mimi that's married to him, am I right?"

Mimi looked at Shigure then looked at Misato, "Yeah that's right. Look I can see I have come at a bad time so I'm going to go."

"Oh please don't," Misato pleaded, "you're the first of his family that I've got to meet and I've been dying to meet you guys."

Mimi looked at Shigure for help but he was not going to offer her any. Mimi could see he was going to make her suffer through this cruel meeting.

Shigure said, "If you really want Mimi-san to stay then she can."

Mimi could see he was going to twist the knife in and she knew it was what she deserved but knowing this didn't make it hurt any less. "I'll stay then, but please excuse me. I have to use the restroom." Mimi said then walked out of the room without waiting for a reply.

When she got into the bathroom, the tears began to flow and she had to put her hand over her mouth to stop any sound from escaping. Mimi sunk to the floor and sat there trying to get a hold of herself. When she finally managed, she stood up ran some water and washed her face, and fixed her makeup.
