A new beginning

Grandmother's House

We turned down a road that Jake explained as my grandmother's driveway. Luke was getting really anxious to get out of this wagon. I was getting really nervous, I am getting ready to meet my grandmother for the first time.

Jake smiled" don't get nervous you will love Annie she is one of a kind."

I smiled at him " I am trying not to, but after everything I have dealt with in the last month it is hard not too."

Jake smiled at me" I promise you that Mrs. Annie is going to be smothering you with hugs."

I nodded" I will trust you, even though we just met."

He laughed" okay I promise if she is mean to you, I get punished."

Luke shook his head " be careful with that she is good at punishing."

We all laughed at his comment. I started to stare off into space as we drove up to a huge two story farm house. Luke was shocked" I think she is rich, she has a mansion."

Jake started to laugh hard" K-kid Y-you are to M-much." We were giggling when we pulled up to my grandmother's house, and she was waiting on the porch. Jake pulled the brake, and jumped down from his seat. Luke couldn't wait any longer and jumped down to feel the land under his feet. Jake walked around the wagon to help me down.

My grandmother smiled" I am so happy you are finally here, I sure hope you are hungry?"

Luke smiled" I am hungry as a horse, hi I am Luke." He walked over to her and she grabbed him up into a bear hug. I stood up to descend down from the wagon, when Jake's hand made contact with mine. The sparks that flew between us were shocking, but felt good to the touch. He must have felt it to, his blue eyes met my hazel eyes at the same time.

He helped me down and I looked at him" Thank you."

He smiled " your welcome, anytime." I walked over to my grandmother" Hi I am Elizabeth, but you can call me Lizzie." That was the only thing I got to say because she wrapped me into a hug that was loving and tender. I started to cry, and she hugged me tighter.

My grandmother smiled" it is ok dear just let it out, Jake dear why don't you and your brother stay for supper."

Jake smiled " we would be delighted to mame."

I sniffled " I am sorry I didn't mean to start crying like that it's just you remind me of my mother." My grandmother patted my back " it is ok dear you have been through enough, and it is ok to cry sometimes." She handed me a hanky, I wiped my eyes as she lead us into the house.

We sat in the parlor with my grandmother, while Jake and his brother finished bringing in our trunks. My grandmother smiled" you look like my Larissa."

I looked up at her and smiled" I really hope I do, I miss her so much."

She patted my arm" we all do, why don't we see what those boys are up too?"

We stood up and walked into the hallway as they carried the last trunk in. Jake smiled at me " I told you Annie was a great person." I smirked at him " so you did, but you can still get punished."

He laughed as his brother helped him carry up the last trunk to the second floor. Annie was eyeing us at the exchange, she got this look on her face as she looked from one to the other. Luke was tailing behind the men walking up the stairs" see I told you she likes to punish."

I smiled at his comment, but who was I kidding Jake was a handsome man. He was giving me these feelings that I only heard about from Susan. The butterflies in the stomach, the electric sparks that shocked you, the feeling of excitement of something new, and anticipation of what is to come. I just wanted to look at him all the time. Who wouldn't right? I turned to look at my grandmother " grandma which room will I sleep in? "
