" Jacob, come back here now!" I yelled at my son who was streaking across the front lawn.Jake was laughing at his son who refused to take a bath. I ran after him but he was really fast for a two year old.

Megan came walking up the drive with her brood" I see it's bath time."

David was walking beside her" go Jacob, she almost caught you ."

I glared at him" you are no help at all."

Jake set Hannah down to catch his son, I wiped the sweat from my brow. I smiled " good now you get to put him in the tub and wash him clean." I walked over and picked up baby Hannah, Jake grimaced at his son's stench.

Megan smiled" well I have some news, I am going to have baby number five this winter."

I shook my head" I keep asking for a break on having babies, but he is dead set on seven."

We laughed, Megan smiled" well you have only one more to go, that is five girls and one boy so far."

I laughed" yep and four boys for you hope you finally get your girl."

We laughed as we walked up the steps of the main house. Annie had been gone from this life now a couple of years. I missed her everyday, she was now with Grandpa and Ma again.

Mary had three darling daughters and one son before she got sick and couldn't have anymore. The town rights, and all of Annie's property was given to me in her will. Luke and his wife were living in our old cabin and expecting their second child this fall. It's funny how live has A New Beginning every morning you wake up.

Jake and I were happy with our group of children, don't get me wrong I love each and everyone of them. But six is more than I bargained for. I also had my own news" well I am expecting baby seven in the late fall." Megan and I fell onto the settee. I looked around the room" this house was built for all the kids Grandma was suppose to have.

" Megan smiled" I miss Annie so much, I wish she could have beaten that brain fever."

I smiled" well I like to think she is finally after all of these years with Grandpa."

Megan swiped a tear away with her finger" don't forget your Ma."

I smiled" oh of course, they are smiling down at us and seeing that we are all happy."

Megan nodded" one day we will all be together again."

I smiled" hopefully we get to lead long happy lives before that time comes."

Megan smiled" I don'tknow about you but I am getting wore out taking care of all of these kids."

I looked at her " you? well Mrs. I have only four kids to my six kids."

Megan laughed" well I don't have two sets of twins or I would be right up there with you."

We laughed and talked about the good old days before kids. Emily came in carrying Hannah and Emma came in carrying Hailey. I groaned" I have a feeling you two have some bad news."

Emma smiled" momma, Jacob managed to dump the tub over and soaked daddy to the bone."

Megan and I looked at each other, and then busted into giggles. Emily smiled" yeah you should have seen it, daddy is real mad now."

I giggled " well he wanted a boy, so he can bathe him every night from now on."

Jake came in carrying a not so wet Jacob and he was soaked to the bone. I laughed" well dear I guess he out smarted you this time."

Jake glared at me" no more boys, this one makes up for a whole mess of them."

I laughed" oh Jakie what would I do without you?"

He grinned at me" you would have less kids."

Jacob cried" mommy, please help me."

I looked at him and sternly said" well young man what do you have to say for your actions?"

Jacob smiled " I love you."

I couldn't do it, I smiled" Jacob, your daddy is in charge of bathing you every night from now on." Jake and Jacob groaned, I blew them each a kiss as they headed up the stairs.

Life has it's ups and downs, Annie taught me that. Life doesn't always go as we plan. I know this from experience, Jake is the love of my life. I have been blessed in so many ways that I count them each and everyday and night. Annie left behind a great legacy, even though she had to fight every step of the way. She was a true fighter, someone who had lived life to it's fullest no matter who said what. I miss her and my mother, but one day my new beginning will be with them. Life's to short, as Annie always told Megan and I. What I wouldn't give to have one more day with her. She gave me so much in such a little time, she was my hero.
