A new beginning

My time is up

We got to town in no time, we stopped at the Mercantile first. We were looking a bolts of material,picking different shades. We found a few that would look good for curtains. Then I picked up this soft white material, I wanted to get enough for a blanket for the baby. We were having so much fun, we were finding everything we needed. As we walked around the store looking at different items, we heard a familiar voice" well if it isn't the two that killed my daughter."

I turned around and seen Mr. Woodson" sir we take offense to that, we didn't kill your daughter."

He cackled" oh but you did, she would have made it if it wasn't for you two."

Megan glared at him" come on Lizzie, we don't have to stand here and listen to his lies."

We started to turn around when he caught sight of my girth" oh so your next are you, you will pay for your sins by death." I grew pale" what do you mean?"

He sneered" you killed my daughter and when you have your child the same will happen to you."

I grew quiet, I was terrified already about giving birth. Now I was so terrified that I was going to die, just like Amber. Megan looked at me" don't listen to him, he is obviously drunk and don't know what he is saying."

I couldn't help but listen, Megan could see the fear in my eyes"

Mr. Woodson, you are a pathetic excuse for a gentleman." He cackled" she knows that I am right, don't you my dear?"

I looked down and started to cry" I don't want to die."

Megan looked at him" you sir are a coward, you have no common decency to even have the manners not to say a stupid thing like that."

He cackled" she will pay for her sins with death, and as for a gentleman that madame I haven't been since she took my daughter away from me."

Megan stomped her foot" you are the only one here that has to pay for their sins, for letting his daughter run the streets like a common whore."

With that she turned on her heel and grabbed my arm and we made our purchases. He yelled out" how dare you, you stupid wench!" We walked out on to the board walk, Megan turned to me" don't worry about what he said in there."

I shook my head" I can't help but worry, what if it's true?"

Megan hugged me" it's not her death was of no one's fault, she paid for her sins by being a light skirt."

I nodded" he just upset me so much, I fear the day that I go into labor." We walked arm and arm over to the General store.

By now the whole town had heard about the episode at the Mercantile. We heard whispering, on how it supposedly happened. I gave the list of food items I would be needing to the stock boy . He filled my order along with Megan's and Annie's, I was walking around looking at different household goods. I picked up a pretty fan and started to wave it and I felt it. A sharp pain start from my back and went to my middle, I gasped and grabbed the shelf in front of me.

Megan noticed me hunched over" Lizzie are you okay?"

The pain passed " yes just a sharp pain, it's gone now."

Megan looked at me " well if you get another one let me know."

I nodded my head" I will,it was probly the baby moving about."

We were waiting for our wagon to be loaded, Megan and I picked up a few other items we would be needing for the baby. I found a few cute bonnets that I liked, when another pain shot through my body again. Only this time it was a little sharper. Megan watched as I dropped them back on the table and hunch over again in pain.
