A new beginning

our first night as man and wife

Jake was pulling a blanket around my shoulders, I smiled" I am fine, for a small cabin it is pretty warm."

Jake smiled' well Mrs.Hughs what is it you would like to talk about first?"I smiled" well for one who told you about the baby?"Jake's smiled slid from his face" well it is obvious that you didn't, why is that Lizzie?"

I shook my head" first you answer my question, then I will answer yours."Jake nodded" okay that is fair, Annie did when she came over to tell me that the sheriff hauled you off to jail."I nodded" okay for one she shouldn't have told you nothing, and second of all you were married to someone else."Jake shook his head" and that was a problem how?"

I shook my head" you weren't the one who was left standing alone by the one person that had vowed to love me forever."Jake nodded" I deserve that one,okay but you could have told me or made an attempt to tell me."I shook my head" for one you were to busy in your drink to even take notice, and second I was completely heart broken."Jake looked at me " I am sorry, I didn't want that to happen at all."

I nodded" I know you didn't mean to but it didn't hurt any less, I cried for days, and never stepped a toe nail out of my room for a month."Jake rubbed the pad of his thumb on my cheek" I never want to hurt you again, I promise to love you for the rest of our lives."I smiled" you can't guarantee me that, how do I know that this marriage won't be dissolved like your first one?"

Jake dropped his hand" I can' t promise we won't have any problems, but I can try my hardest to not have them."I shook my head " that is not a good enough answer, my pa always said that I was a special girl and I deserved the best."

Jake smiled" your pa was a smart man, you do deserve the best I can give you."I shook my head" you don't get it,I am only seventeen and pregnant."Jake nodded" I know how old you are, I am an old man compared to you."I shook my head" I am not saying that, what I am trying to say is I have lost so much in such a short time."

Jake nodded " I know ."

I continued" I never dreamed that I would be here right now with you, I have suffered enough for what I have had to go through."Jake pulled me into a hug" I know baby, I want to do everything I can to make up for what has happened."

I shook my head" you left me for another woman, you let them marry you off to that woman."Jake looked down " I couldn't help it, they made me I had no other choice."I glared at him" you had no other choice, really?"Jake nodded" well it was at gun point, hence shot gun wedding."

I shook my head" if you would have left with me,that wouldn't have happened."Jake shook his head" well I didn't but I am here now married to you my lovely wife."

I glared" I understand that but did you expect that I would just forget everything that happened in the last two months?"Jake shook his head" I figured that I could try to make up for all of that."

I glared" Really? you expected to just waltz right in and sweep me off of my feet, and I would forget it ever happened?" Jake nodded" something like that, but I am really sorry truly sorry,won't you forgive me?" I shook my head " I am sorry but at this time if it wasn't for the fact that I was having your baby we wouldn't be married."
