A new beginning

Love is in the air

Fall was here, the leaves were turning red, yellow and orange. The mountains in the distance were beautiful, picture perfect. I was still on bed rest and completely annoyed,I hated to be stuck in doors with the sight that I could see through my windows. Jake and David have been doing the harvesting, Luke was with them to learn. So it was just Grandma, Megan, and I in the house now.

Megan came to see me as often as she could. They were canning and putting up food for the winter. I felt useless, I wanted to help them, but all they would say" back to bed for you." For three weeks I have stayed in my room with books to read. But even that was getting old, I wanted to go out to explore this new world I was living in. I had never seen such beauty in all of my life, I wanted to go walking and let nature thrill me.

Thank goodness the doctor was coming today to see if I have progressed enough to be off of bed rest. It was exhausting just being stuck inside everyday, I wanted out of this house today. Megan would come and tell me how David was so busy with the harvesting, and how he hasn't been over in a week. I smiled" don't worry I bet you are on his mind all of the time." We would giggle as we talked about Jake and David. My grandma was happy for Megan and David, they were in love. I didn't dare tell her that I have feelings for Jake, because I wasn't sure what I felt yet. Megan says I am in love, but what is love?

The doctor arrived, my grandma and Megan waited on pins and needles to find out if I was okay. As he emerged from my room, he smiled" she has made a full recovery, start her out with some light duty." My grandma was so happy she hugged the doctor" Thank you,I am so happy she is okay."

Megan came immediately into my room" I am so happy to hear you made a full recovery, do you know who is going to be happy about this?"

I smiled " everyone?"

Megan giggled" well of course, but Jake will be so happy to hear the good news."

I laughed " he is to busy to care, and besides he has never said if he feels the same way that I do."

Megan sighed" oh don't worry it is written on his face how he feels about you."

I shook my head" well he hasn't said anything so we don't know for sure."

Megan smiled" but he asks about you every time they come for dinner."

I looked at her" really? I wouldn't know since I wasn't allowed out of this room."

Megan laughed " I don't know who it was the hardest for you or Jake?" We laughed and danced around the room, my grandma came in and hugged me. " I am so happy to hear the good news."

I smiled at her " don't worry I am so happy not to be stuck in this room anymore." We all laughed and I got to step out of this room to go downstairs. We all went and sat in the parlor, I was just itching to go outside. My grandma could see it too. Megan smiled" well Annie do you think that Lizzie is well enough to go and help deliver the guys lunch today?"

Annie eyed Megan" I think we should take baby steps, I want her to stay here until she is use to the mountain air."

I knew that she was scared, I figured it was going to be hard to finally get out of her sight for more than an hour. Megan smiled " well I agree since she has been in the house these past 3 weeks."

I stared at her" well what if I want to just go for a walk will I be able to do that?" They both looked at me " in due time, you are not use to this climate yet."

I sighed " well can I at least sit on the front porch?" My grandma smiled" yes for a bit, but take your shawl with you." I ran to the front door and grabbed my shawl and wrapped it around my shoulders. They both stood there watching as I stepped out.
