A new beginning

Baby makes three, and let it snow

We were enjoying the first snow fall, the girls were running around with their tongues sticking out of their mouths. I laughed when they would catch a snow flake, they would blink and shake their little heads. Jake started to throw snowballs at us, and they squealed in delight. I was starting to show my baby bump, Jake was so happy when he would lay in bed next to me and feel the baby move. I was happy to be finally over the morning sickness, now I had only 5 months left.

Megan came running down the drive"LIZZIE!"

I looked at her " what is it Megan?"

She skidded to a stop in front of us" It's Mary, she's in labor and she wants us there all three of us."

I looked at Jake" do you have the girls?"

Jake smiled" yes, go and we will be there as soon as we can."

I smiled" love you, let's go get Annie."

We hurried through the growing snow, Jake yelled" Lizzie, please be careful!"

I waved my hand" I will, love you." I could here him laughing, Annie was waiting in the buggy, I smiled" she must have seen you running, she knew what was going on." Megan and I laughed,

Annie shouted" come on you two slow pokes, that baby will be born before we get there." We climbed up on the buggy, Jake had already attached the sleigh boards when it started to snow. We were chatting as we slid through the snow.

The doctor nodded to Annie when we came in the front door" she has a while yet."

Annie nodded" is everything going okay so far?"

The doctor nodded " yes, she is progressing nicely it shouldn't take to much longer."

I smiled" can we go in?"

He nodded" she has been asking for you all." We hung up our wraps and hats, then headed into the bedroom.

I smiled" Oh Mary, we're here to help you pass the time away."

She actually laughed sarcastically" well hope it won't take all night for this bugger to come out."

Megan smiled" you want to hold my hand?"

Mary got a gleam in her eyes" sure, that's going to help me."

As Megan reached her hand out , I groaned" oh poor Megan, she is getting ready to..." It was to late for Megan, she was down in the fetal position.

I grimaced" she is paying you back for your hand squeezing."

Mary smirked" it doesn't feel good does it, but you know for some reason it does help."

I giggled " I guess I will have to do the same to compare."

Mary turned her gaze towards me" oh your not getting out of this so easy, I will squeeze your hand too."

I flexed my hand" please no, why the hand?"

Mary smiled" because I hurt so you have to hurt right along with me."

I grimaced" please I beg you, not the hand."

She tightened up in a sharp contraction" OW! THIS HURTS!" I put my hands behind my back and scooted away from the bed to a safe distance. Megan wasn't so lucky, she reached her good hand up to pull herself up. Well in doing that Mary grabbed it and squeezed her good hand.

I grimaced" geez, what is it with the hands?"

Annie cackled" if your smart stop bringing up the hand subject and we might escape unharmed." I sat down in a chair with my hands under my bottom.
