They hadn't been gone long, but Dean was already regretting letting Karoline go out there with Ellen alone. The civilians were all starting to get on his nerves, sitting around the table and praying. The pastor was leading them in the latest version.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He layeth me down in green pastures, and he raiseth me up again. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil."

There was a pounding on the door and Dean jumped, moving instantly for it. He checked the peephole, then removed the brace against the door, letting Ellen come inside. Instantly he knew something was wrong.

"Where's Kare?" SHe shook her head and sat down next to Kate, who handed him a bottle of water.

"They took her? Demons took her? Oh my God! What if they're in here? The demons?" Kate said.

"Could they get in?" The Pastor asked and Alayna shook her head.

"No." She said, looking over at Sam.

Dean grabbed a shotgun and headed for the door. "Everybody sit tight. I got to..."

"Dean!" Alayna called out, and he stopped, sighing. He knew what she was going to say without her even saying it. They had to get these people to safety.

Dean stopped, hand resting on the door. Every inch of his body telling him, he had to go and get Karoline. Yet he needed to be smart about this. If they'd had enough demons to overpower Karoline and Ellen, then going at this all ad hoc wasn't going to save her. Dean grimaced, not liking what it meant, every second was a second she might be hurting, or worse. But these people were depending on him.

"Okay, we need to get a plan together. Tell me everything," He said, looking at Ellen.

Jo had Karoline by her hair, yanking her head back. Axel was pouring salt down her mouth again, and it wasn't working. "Please! Come on!" She spat out, thinking surely they weren't this dumb.

"-omnis immundus-" Axel started to hesitate, looking down at the blonde. Jo let go and picked up the water jug again.

"Look! Something's not right! Do you see that?" Karoline asked. "Come on Jo, surely you can see something isn't right here." Her response was to splash her in the face with water again. Karoline spat out a mouthful of water, kind of relieved that it took away the sharpness of the salt.

"Come on! Stop! Listen to me!"

Karoline looked up, trying to get her to see reason. Jo moved to get something from nearby and She spotted Roger from the church standing in the doorway, watching. Karoline frowned. What was he doing here? He smiled, and then turned the ring on his hand. Karoline looked up at the devil's trap drawn on the ceiling - that was a trick of her Dad's, good to see Jo had been paying attention.

"Listen!" She said.

"Why isn't it working?" Jo asked, talking quietly to Axel.

"I don't know," Axel said, and Karoline's blood ran cold at the way the both looked back at her.

"Look, listen to me, something's not right!" She said again. "You can see that. Please. Please. Just listen to me."

"But she's not as strong as she thinks she is," Axel said.

"Dean, one of them's in Jo. We got to get it out without hurting her," Ellen said as they sat at the table, going over their options of attack. She snorted, shaking her head. "It called me a bitch."

Dean smirked, raising his eyebrow at her. "Bruise a little easy, don't you think?"

"No, that's not what I meant. It called me a black-eyed bitch," Ellen said. Dean paused, thinking this over. Why would they be thinking they were possessed?
