Sam decided to stay back while Dean and the girls left to go to the coroners office for the recent autopsies. He just couldn't be around them right now. After they split for those couple of weeks it almost felt like he was an outcast around them. And with Dean bossing him around and berating him like that, it just made it worse. He headed up to the local bar while he waited for them to get back from the report.
"Just a beer." He ordered from the young blonde bartender, getting a nod in response.
He felt their presence behind him before he saw them. His whole body tensed up, on alert for whatever was about to come. "Hello, Sam." He certainly wasn't expecting that.
Slowly he turned around, feeling confusion, and rage, a million emotions swirling through him at that moment, "Ruby?"
She smiled like she wasn't the reason for everything bad in his life. Like she wasn't the one who tricked him into starting the apocalypse. The one who broke up him and Alayna. The one who drove a wedge between him and Dean. "It's good to see you. You look good." She smirked, eyeing him up.
"Where have you been, Ruby?" He asked, cutting straight to the point.
"I don't have any reasons that are gonna comfort you," She shrugged, pausing when the bartender brought Sam his drink. He didn't even pass it a glance. "I don't have any explanations that are gonna satisfy you. It had to happen Sam, it had to be you."
"It's that simple?" Sam asked, a bitterness to his voice.
Ruby watched him for a silent moment, watching him carefully. Finally she sighed, "I want to talk to Alayna," She grabbed a napkin and a pen and scribbled down a time and address before handing it to him. "I want you to arrange a meeting for us."
Sam read the message over and scoffed, "You want me to deliver a message?" He asked in disbelief.
She merely smiled back, "Yeah."
Sam grit his teeth to keep himself from lashing out in public, "Screw you. You selfish bitch." He spat out, throwing the paper back at her. He stood from his seat abruptly and stormed out of the bar and for the Impala. Dean had taken the Buick with the girls. Suddenly Ruby was behind him again, stopping him from opening the car door, "What do you want from me?"
"I already told you."
Sam whirled around to face her, towering over her small body, "I'm not gonna do anything for you."
She didn't even bat an eyelash at his threatening tone. She reached a hand around his throat and slammed him against the car with a hold too strong for him to break, "you better tell Alayna that I want to meet or I'm gonna start killing the citizens of this town one by one. Got it?" She released him with a shove causing him to fall to the pavement.
By the time he got up she was already gone the paper she had given him being the only thing left. Sam picked it up quickly and smoothed out it's crinkled surface to read the message she left for Alayna. How was he supposed to tell them what happened.
Sam went straight back to the motel room after his encounter with Ruby to wait for the others. It wasn't long before the three of them came walking into his and Dean's room, talking and laughing at something Dean did. Alayna was the first one to notice Sam's shift in mood, "What's wrong?" She asked, that caught the others attention and they all turned to look at him.
"I saw Ruby today."
The whole room seemed to grow still at the mention of the demon who ruined their lives, ruined the whole world.
"Ruby's here?" Dean was the one to break the silence and Sam nodded without a word. "In town?" Another nod. Silently, Dean turned to look at Alayna worriedly who had her arms crossed and was starring at the ground. He wanted to help her, he just didn't know how.
