She couldn't believe that it was finally time. You know, you spend a whole year talking about Armageddon and Lucifer and the sacrifice, Alayna had almost convinced herself that none of it was real. But, it was. And now they were driving to Detroit to kick start it. She only hoped Sam had what it took to take on the Devil. Because if he didn't... she didn't even want to think about it.
Instead she kept her gaze solely on the back of the Impala as they drove steadily behind them. Castiel was sleeping in the backseat of their car. Only weird thing was that Angel's don't sleep. She knew something had been going on with Cas ever since he rebelled, but she never knew the extent of it.
"Aw," Karoline cooed, looking through the rear view window at Castiel. "Ain't he a little Angel?"
Alayna's lips twitched at her attempt to lighten the mood, "Angels don't sleep."
Karoline went quiet at that, her gaze returning to the road. Her eyes traveled around the car taking everything in. From their signatures they scribbled on each of the visors when Tom had first given Karoline the car, to the tarnished cup holder in the back that Alayna's crayons had melted in. It was her first day of Kindergarten and she cried her eyes out when she realized that she left them in the car and not only that, that they were ruined.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Karoline voice, pulling Alayna out of her thoughts.
Alayna snorted, shaking her head lightly, "I'd be worried if you didn't." Silence fell over them once again.
Alayna was pulled back to the first time she ever drove this car. It was her sixteenth birthday and Karoline took her around the parking lot of the road house to teach her how to work a stick shift. She nearly crashed twice. Karoline was mad at first, but Daryll had talked her down. Saying she just needed a little more practice.
Daryll...
She had her first date and kiss with Daryll in this car. He had asked her out and Karoline let them take the car. He took her to a drive in movie. She couldn't remember the movie, not that she had been paying any attention. They just talked for hours on hours on hours and then they weren't talking anymore.
Alayna felt her lips twist up into a small smile. And then it was gone.
Her eyes turned to the blonde sitting next to her. "So... there's something we gotta talk about."
Karoline looked at her, looking a little nervous, "What?"
"If this thing goes sideways, and I die." She noticed Karoline stiffen in the seat beside her, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. "I don't want you to make any deals, nothing. You let me die."
Karoline took a moment to stare at her. Was she serious? Karoline quickly turned her eyes back to the road, "what? You expect me to just sit on my hands and let you rot?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I expect you to do," Alayna didn't even hesitate, a not of finality in her voice. "I want you and Dean to keep going. Whether that's to continue hunting, or have some normal life, I don't care. But you gotta keep going."
Karoline was silent. Could she do it? Could she just let her sister die? Karoline shook her head in disbelief, "I could say the same thing to you." She whispered.
"You're not going to die."
"I might," Karoline looked over at her with serious, bright blue eyes. "You heard Elijah, this could kill me. So, if it does and you make it to the other side of this I need you to watch out for Dean. Cause we both know, either way, Sam's not making it back."
