They'd been looking for the Demon Crowley for over a month now, it was all going no where until one day Axel called them with a lead. That's what led Karoline and Alayna to be sitting there at Bobby's house waiting for Dean, Sam, and Jo to get back from the house they found that Crowley was staying at. Karoline was leaning in the archway between the kitchen and the living room watching her Dad, Bobby, and Ellen all talk, sharing a couple beers. She smiled. It was nice seeing her Dad so light hearted again. It had been a while, what with John dying and then getting stuck in a wheelchair.
Laughing caught her attention and she turned back to see Axel and Alayna in the kitchen, the latter up on the counter with a Pop. "So, you're a doppelganger?" Axel asked and that peaked Karoline's interest as she headed into the kitchen to where they were. "There is an exact replica of you just running around?"
"Yup," Karoline broke in, popping the 'P', "the bitch was locked up to wither away and then regenerate, wither away again, and so on and so forth." She smiled sarcastically getting an amused smirk from Axel. "But, somehow she managed to break out."
"Immorality is a bitch."
"I would know," Alayna quipped, tilting the tip of her Pop towards the blue eyed boy, laughing under her breath.
"So," Karoline leaned back against the counter next to her sister, cracking open a beer herself. "How're you and Jo."
Axel smiled at that one, licking his lips, "We've had our moments," He admitted, and Karoline smiled at him, nudging his leg with her foot. He chuckled, pushing her leg away, "But, I don't know. It never seems like the right time."
"If you don't do it soon, your gonna run out of time for it ever to be right." Alayna told him and he nodded in thought.
A flapping of wings caught there attention and they all turned to see Castiel standing there, "They made it to the house, they're speaking with the Demon Crowley as we speak."
"I missed you too, Cassy," Karoline turned to face him with a smirk and he frowned at her in confusion. She watched him for a moment, before taking a rather large gulp of her beer and handing it off to Axel. "Cas, walk with me."
He seemed even more confused at that, looking over at Alayna and Axel who both shrugged at him, not having any clue as to what that was about. Finally the blue eyed Angel turned and followed Karoline out the side door, walking with her down the dirt paths through the dozens of junk cars.
"How're you doing Cas?" She asked sincerely, her hands in her back pockets as she glanced over at him.
"I'm okay," he simply declared.
"No, you're not," she gently shook her head. "We haven't seen each other since the thing with Ruby, but I can still see that you are not okay."
Castiel watched her face for a moment. He had learned a long time ago that she always made sure to hide who she really was, but as an Angel he was able to see both the physical form and spiritual form of humans. He preferred, like most Angels, their souls, because it held a certain beauty to it of who they truly were, unable to hide behind a mask of who they thought they needed to be. But, when it came to Karoline he couldn't help but pay attention to her corporal form; his Father's work. He realized that the softness and strength of her soul shone on her face, in a way that made him trust her more than anyone.
"My search for God," Castiel begins, furrowing his brow and moving his blue eyes to look away. "Is it pointless?"
Karoline was taken off guard by his question, "What makes you say that?"
"I have been looking for him for months now," He paused, walking a few steps away from her while her eyes followed him. "I still haven't found him. I'm starting to believe that I might not find him."
