Alayna and Karoline came into Dean and Sam's hotel room dressed and ready to go down to the police station. Alayna stopped to look at the TV screen seeing one of her favorite shows on, Dr. Sexy MD. "I love this show." She sat down on the edge of the double bed next to Dean who was completely absorbed by the show.
A medical emergency broke out on the screen with all the on-duty interns being summoned to station five south - wherever that was - and then Dr Palmer and Dr Piccolo entered the elevator.... Karoline quirked an eyebrow as they both leaned forward, watching closely, at the same time. As soon as the doors of the elevators closed, Palmer and Piccolo started to make out. Alayna groaned and fell back on the mattress, and Dean chuckled, watching as the male doctor started to run his hands along the others' back.
"What are you watching?" Karoline asked finally, looking up as Sam came out of the bathroom, buttoning up his shirt.
"Doctor show," Alayna said, sitting up again. "Dr Sexy, MD."
"I think it's based on a book," Dean added, shrugging.
"When did you enter menopause?" Sam asked, looking over at his brother.
"It's called channel surfing," Dean said defensively, standing up and turning off the TV as Sam grabbed his jacket.
"Hey, I was still watching that!" Alayna protested.
"It goes for another half hour, we got things to do," Deah replied, getting down to business. If there was one thing he hated, it was that Sam seemed to have a better work ethic than him lately. In fact, he was really pushing the cases.
Alayna sighed, "Fine," she grumbled, looking over at Dean. She flicked her long hair over her shoulders and adjusted the jacket to square her shoulders, a movement that told Dean, her feathers were a little ruffled. Karoline and Sam looked at them expectantly.
"You ready?" Dean asked them, as if they hadn't been waiting on him all this time.
"Are you?" Karoline snorted, a hand on her hip.
Dean grabbed the keys off the table, giving her one of his pointed looks, "I was born ready," He muttered, leaving the three of them to follow him out the door.
They reached the police station within ten minutes, "One more time," the officer in front of them asked. "The FBI is here why, exactly?" He skeptically viewed the four of them, which was odd enough, with a raised eyebrow.
"Might have something to do with one of your locals getting his head ripped off," Dean supplied, not missing a beat.
"Bill Randolph died from a bear attack," the officer replied quickly, but there was doubt there, something simmering below the surface. Like many of the cases they'd worked - there was weird, and then there was downright inexplicable, and that was when people tended to take a dive into denial.
"How sure are you—that it was a bear?" Alayna asked, writing a few items she wanted from the shop in her notebook. To the officer she was astutely interested and being thorough. She couldn't have been more bored of the routine.
"What else would it be?" Came the reply.
Karoline leaned on the counter and looked at her nails, glancing up at the officer. "Well, whatever it was—it chased Mr. Randolph through the woods, smashed through his front door—followed him up the stairs, and killed him in his bedroom. Did I miss anything?" Her expression was dead serious.
"Is that common, a bear doing all that?" Dean asked, his face as deadpan as Karoline's.
The officer shrugged, at a loss for words because deep down he knew they were right: he just didn't want to admit that, because then they might start digging and find something that couldn't be explained. And guys like Officer Jones here, they didn't like to have their worlds rocked.
