you sit next to Ethan nervously. waiting for someone to pick up.
"hello?" Lisa answers
your heart beat is the only thing you can hear. Ethan looks at you reassuringly before answering.
"hey mom" he says
"hi Ethan. is everything okay?" she asks
"um no" Ethan answers nervously
"well what happened?"
"you know how i love y/n so much and we're adults now"
"are you going to marry her?" Lisa asks excitedly
my heart is thudding in my chest, but i feel a little reassured that she is excited about the idea of me marrying Ethan.
"not yet. but i have some news" Ethan continues
"what is it?"
"um y/n is pregnant" he says, his voice quivering
the line goes silent.
"mom?" Ethan asks
"i'm here. uh how far along is she?"
"8 weeks"
"are you two ready for a family?"
Ethan looks at me and i nod my head
"y-yeah we are" Ethan stutters
"you realise this is a big responsibility, raising a child"
"we know"
"then i'm excited for you guys" she answers
"that means a lot Mrs. Dolan" you say
"oh y/n i didn't know you were there as well. hi dear"
"hi" you say
"well i should leave you two to it" she says
"wait mom, there's one more thing" Ethan says
"yeah?" she asks
"it's a prank" we both yell
she laughs "i thought it might be, but i am happy either way"
"thank you mom" Ethan says
"yes, thank you Mrs. Dolan. it means a lot" you say
"no problem. have fun, but not too much fun now" she says
we all laugh
"okay bye" she says
"bye" we say
Ethan hangs up and kisses my lips.
"i can't wait to start a family with you when the time comes" he says
you smile and hug him "i can't wait either"
