ethan's pov

"ethan" the teacher calls

i slowly stand up and make my way to the podium, trying not to look at the constant stare of my fellow classmates in the process of doing so. i push my glasses further up my nose as i stare at the piece of paper in my hand and try to focus on the words instead of the loud heartbeat in my chest.

i take a deep breath and start reading

"w-we were told to write about s-someone who has impacted our life f-for better or f-for worse. i c-chose a person that has impacted my life in b-both ways. this p-person probably doesn't know i e-exist, but that's okay b-because her presence alone is enough. i d-don't mean that in a creepy way. it's j-just that i see everyone always h-happy around her w-when i observe from a-afar. and it's n-not like i plan it, i just happen to b-be there at the right t-times, i guess. s-she lights up the room and immediately t-takes all the attention, while i sit in the c-corner and witness. s-she is endlessly fascinating, while i am h-horrifically boring. s-she is confident and outgoing, w-while i am shy and quiet. s-she is resilient and fierce, while i am f-feeble and meek. s-she is the opposite of me, b-but i long to be apart of her life. even just f-for a day." i glance up and look at the rain droplets hitting the glass of the window

"if p-people were rain, i would b-be a drizzle and she would b-be a hurricane." i finish and sit down as people clap, politely

my heartbeat slows down a little as the next person walks up. i look up at the next person, glad that the attention was off of me. y/n looks at her paper and glances at me, before looking back at her paper. i feel my cheeks warm up as she starts to read.

"i wrote about a boy, i know shocking."

everyone laughs

"he's different than any other boy that i've seen. i have to say seen because i haven't actually met him before. i observe his actions and watch what he does in certain situations. he doesn't react or do things the way i've seen others do. he will sit quietly and doodle in his notebook or read his thick novel silently. he obeys teachers and respects girls. which is very difficult to find in this school, or even in men in general. he has great manners, whether it's holding the door for someone or saying 'excuse me' in a hallway full of students. you can never catch him doing anything wrong or bad because he's not that type of person. he's loyal and caring and doesn't take anything for granted. and i will use the saying 'he wouldn't even hurt a fly' because i don't think he would. he's too pure and innocent for this world and it hurts when i see something happen to him. because he doesn't deserve anything negative."

she pauses and looks out the window

"he is the sunshine in a rain storm"

i clap along with everyone else as i sit there in awe. that was beautiful.

~

"okay now one by one, we will reveal who we wrote about" the teacher says

"but that wasn't part of the assignment" someone complains

"awe, but that's the beauty of it. you wrote something so raw because you thought that the inspiration behind your writing would be kept a secret" the teacher explains

a couple people groan as i feel my face heat up and my heartbeat increase

a student walks up to the teacher and distracts

i feel my hands get clammy and shake, nervously

i can't say who i read out loud, i can't

"okay, if you wrote about someone in this room, walk to them" the teacher says

no one moves

"move it or you fail. don't think i couldn't figure out your writing"

everyone jumps out of their seats

i slowly turn around and look at where she was sitting, but she wasn't there

"um excuse me" an angelic voice says

i turn around and see her. the one i wrote about

"this is kind of awkward since i just poured my heart out, but i wrote about you" she says

she wrote about me? me?

"t-thank you" i stutter nervously

she smiles "your welcome, i guess. you can tell the person you wrote about now, sorry for holding you back" she says as she starts to walk away

"w-wait, y/n" i call out, finding my voice

she turns around and walks back over to me

"yeah?"

"i uh..i-i wrote about you"

she blushes and sits in the seat next to me

after a moment of silence between the two of us, she looks up at me. i nervously push my glasses up

she smiles "can i kiss you?"

i nod, even more nervous than before. this was my first kiss

she leans in and gently places her soft lips on mine

when she leans away, i feel my face heat up

she giggles "you're adorable"

i blush even more

"do you want to go out sometime?" she asks

i smile "i w-would love to"

we exchange numbers

the bell rings and she leaves after giving me a hug

i walk outside and see that it's only drizzling.

i smile to myself thinking of y/n
