💛
high school can suck it because today, i'm determined to have a good day
i confidently walk down the hallways, instead of looking down and being my usual shy self
i smile at strangers and see them smile back, making my smile grow wider
i take a seat in my first period class, sitting next to ethan dolan, due to the assigned seating
but i don't mind him because he's quiet and keeps to himself, much like me
i give him a smile "hi ethan"
he jumps, surprised
and i can't help but let a small giggle escape my lips
he looks flustered as he tries to answer "oh, uh, hi y/n"
i send him another smile before turning my attention to the teacher who started class
this is easily my favorite class
it's figurative writing/journal class
i love to write and listen to other people's work
it's honestly kind of like a poetry corner or club
"okay class, today you will be reading your poems. they had to be at least one stanza, but you could have up to five stanzas" she says
we all nod, excited to read our poems
i shuffle in my seat, anxious to read my poem, wondering if they will like it
jane, who has the whole gothic look, goes first
her poem is dark and depressing, just like all of her other ones
then becca goes, her poem matches her personality and appearance perfectly
then ethan is picked to go
he hesitantly gets up out of his seat, walking up to the podium
"um, i wrote this about a girl that i like" he says with pink cheeks
we all nod as he stares down at the piece of paper in his hands
"i wish i could explain your eyes,
and how the sound of your voice gives me butterflies.how your smile makes my heart skip a beat
and how every time i'm with you, i feel so complete"my eyes widen as i clap loudly, proud of his rhyming poem and use of passion
i can't help but wonder who got him to open up like that
"y/n" the teacher says
i smile and stand at the podium, scanning the room
"i don't know how i can follow ethan's- but i'll try" i start, making ethan's cheeks turn red
