your phone rings and you answer the call, not recognizing the number. you just thought that someone might have the wrong number. nope. it was your boyfriend, ethan, calling from jail again.
"hey y/n, can you pick me up?" he asks
"from where?"
"uh jail"
you sigh and hang up throwing your shoes on and grabbing your keys before walking out the door into the pouring rain

you pay the fine and they let ethan go. you walk away from him and to your car, ignoring everything that he says.
you get in the car and start the engine, but ethan turns the engine off and holds the keys in his hand. you try to grab them out of his grasp, but he doesn't budge. you sigh and open the car door, frustrated with him and his actions. you start walking in the direction of your house, not caring that you are getting soaked.
a car drives up beside you and you immediately recognize the driver and the vehicle.
"baby come on. get in the car" ethan begs
you ignore him and continue walking

you reach your house and wait as ethan pulls your car into the driveway. he gets out and hands you the keys. you grab them and shove them into the door.
"y/n i'm sorry. i'll pay you back. just please don't be mad. it won't happen again" he pleads
that last statement made you laugh. he gives you a confused look
"that's funny, ethan. you always say 'it won't happen again'. you beg and plead until i give in and forgive you. you say 'don't be mad' and 'i'll pay you back' but i don't care about the money ethan and i will continue to be mad at you because you break your promise over and over again. and i forgive you over and over again. but not this time because i'm done with you and your actions. just stay away from me ethan. we're over" with that, you slam the door in his face and lock it.
surprisingly, you're not sad or guilty. it feels good to break up with him, to cut him loose and never deal with him again. you were finally free.
