you're sitting on your bed, eyes closed, singing with every emotion you can muster. no one's home and you feel like singing. headphones on and music blasting. it's your favorite song and you know every word by heart. it's a version by this younger girl of have you ever seen the rain. it's endlessly beautiful and you can't help but sing along.
you finish the song and open your eyes. your boyfriend, Ethan, is standing in the doorway. a bewildered expression on his face. he walks towards you and sits on the bed in front of you.
"i didn't know you could sing like that" he says
you blush "i didn't know you were listening"
"it was beautiful, baby girl"
you feel your cheeks heat up again, a dark shade of pink slowly appearing.
he kisses you cheek before kissing your lips. you melt into the kiss.
he pulls away and gently pushes you onto the bed. you lay down and he lays his head on your stomach. you run your fingers through his hair out of habit.
"sing to me" he whispers
you smile "which song?"
"the one you were just singing"
"okay"
you take a breath before starting. singing softly as Ethan traces shapes on your stomach. his breathing eventually getting heavier and soon enough, you hear his quiet snores.
you smile to yourself and continue to sing.
