Liam and I were getting ready to go out on a date for New Year's Eve

Liam and I were getting ready to go out on a date for New Year's Eve. I curled my hair before changing out of my clothes into a nice dress I bought just for this occasion. I put on a necklace and earrings and then a pair of black heels.

I walked downstairs with my gold clutch and Liam's jaw dropped as he stared at me.

"Am I dating an actual angel?"

"You just might be." I winked.

We both put on our coats before going out to the car and driving off to our date.

For once, our plans with each other weren't taken away by Violet. Tonight, she wasn't going to get in the way of me spending time with Liam. Tonight, I wasn't going to have any worries.

We ate at a fancy restaurant where Liam ordered chicken parmesan and I ordered steak and mashed potatoes. The food was outstanding and neither of us have ever eaten there before tonight so we both agreed to do it again for a future date.

After a few hours, we took a walk to the park and stood inside a little gazebo in the middle of the area. We could hear the faint shouting of a large crowd counting down from ten and we couldn't help but to join in with them.

When the countdown ended, the crowd roared with cheers and Liam and I kissed as colorful fireworks went off and exploded in the sky. It felt like some cliché moment from a romantic comedy. I never believed those scenarios were realistic until it happened to me. Tonight felt like a fairytale. No, tonight was a fairytale.

When we got home, Liam took out a bottle of champagne and poured some for each of us.

"What an amazing New Years. The best part is that I got to spend it with you." Liam said.

"This calls for a toast so pour the champagne!" I chimed in as Liam handed me my glass.

Liam shook his head and laughed. "You and your Panic! song references."

"Tonight, we are victorious! Champagne pouring over us!" I sang as I began dancing really badly.

"You are not a very good dancer." Liam continued laughing.

"Hey, I'm excited about it being New Year's so let me have my moment of happiness!" I laughed back. "I don't need you ruining my positive vibes."

"Here's to the new year and to us getting married in a little over a month." Liam smiled as he raised up his glass.

I raised up my glass in return. "Here's to us."

As we were drinking our champagne, I texted some friends and family to say happy New Year's. This whole night was stress free and I wanted so bad for it to stay that way. It was just like old times when we'd go on dates. Then, I didn't have to worry about another girl causing problems between us.

"You look so fucking amazing in that dress." Liam said looking me up and down.

"Yeah, you told me that once or twice tonight." I said sarcastically. "And by once or twice, I mean maybe like, a couple hundred."

"There's no way I could only say it just once or twice. You really do look so beautiful, Willow."

"You know what would make this night even better?" I asked as I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Jacuzzi?" Liam guessed.

"You just read my damn mind." I smirked and kissed him.

We sat in the Jacuzzi for a while. Before both of us knew it, it was two o'clock in the morning and we decided to get out and go to bed.

As we were both lying there, still awake, I spoke up. "Thank you so much for tonight. It felt so magical and I really had an amazing time."

"Anytime, baby." Liam said as he took my hand in his.

Holding his hand and thinking about our date, I forgot about our previous fights. I forgot about Violet. I forgot about the disappointment I felt when I barely got to see him all day because he'd be with her.

What was I even thinking, thinking that he needed Violet more than he needed me? Violet is his best friend and I'm his fiancée. I was both of those things and she was only one of them. Along with being his fiancée, I was also his best friend. But Violet was only his best friend and that is all she'll ever be. I truly felt like things were finally going the way they should be. Everything was going to be just fine.

The next morning, I made eggs and bacon for Liam and I. As we were eating, I received a text from a number I didn't recognize.

Unknown: Hey, Willow! What are you up to this week?

W: I'm sorry, who is this?

Unknown: Oops, my bad! This is Violet! I asked Liam for your number.

W: Okay! And besides, getting shit together for the wedding, I'm not sure what I'll be up to.

V: Alright, well, I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me sometime this week!"

Oh yeah, like I really want to go shopping with the girl who's been stealing my fiancé away from me for the past several months and making us fight.

W: That sounds like a lot of fun! I'm totally up for doing that!

V: Awesome! I'll text or call you later this week and we'll figure something out!

W: Sounds good!

I don't know what the hell I was getting myself into but I hoped it wouldn't be that bad. Why would it be? Violet has been nothing but nice to me since we've met. Though after a while, that niceness started to come off as fake, almost as if she were forcing herself to not start shit. It seemed that she only acted that way towards me to make Liam happy. He wouldn't want to see his fiancée and best friend not get along so it made perfect sense.

I looked up from my phone. "So Violet texted me and we're going shopping this week."

"That's great! I know you girls will have so much fun together!" Liam said excitedly. He was certainly more enthusiastic about this than I was. "I'm glad you two are finally hanging out together.

"Yeah, me too. I'm looking forward to it." I said fake smiling.

Liam's expression turned serious. "Willow, I need to tell you something."

"What is it? I asked.

"I'm nervous about the wedding."

"That's ok, so am I. Everyone gets nervous on their wedding day." I reassured him.

"Yeah, that is true." Liam seemed to relax a bit. "But we're in this together. This is a happy day, a day of celebrating our love for each other."

"Exactly so everything will be okay. We're not going to let anybody or anything get in the way of our happiness." Especially not fucking Violet, I thought. "I love you."

"I love you too, Willow. And nothing is ever going to change my mind about that." He gave me that smile that makes me fall in love with him. That smile that makes me believe everything is going to be alright. In that moment, it didn't feel wrong to trust that smile.
