Bright and early, I was up and sitting in a room somewhere on the first floor in the east wing, listening to an etiquette instructor scold me for the fifteenth time in only twenty minutes. Etiquette can't be this difficult, was it?

It was ridiculously really. I was copying how she sat, shoulders squared, back straight, knees together, hands in my lap, chin up, ankles together and to the right. Really? I thought I was sitting exactly like her but she was still upset and instructing me to sit straighter and keep my knees and ankles together tighter. I was aggravated and sleepy.

I couldn't help but picture the older vampire with a ruler in her hand slapping me every time I got something wrong. I tried not to laugh as she began to instruct me on how to walk properly but I slipped a little.

"A Lady does not snicker," she barked at me. Her grey hair had been in a tight bun on top of her head but with as many times as she has shook her head no at me disapprovingly, wispy strands have come loose.

She looked at a clock perched on a mantle before turning her glare back to me. "We will continue in the morning. Good day Lady Silverfall."

"Good bye Mrs. Keyve." I gave her a smile while trying not to snicker at her frustrated expression.

She nodded a single stiff nod my way before leaving.

I breathed a long breathy sigh of relief when she was gone. I was not looking forward to tomorrow. I couldn't believe that I needed a class in how to act or how to sit. It was so ridiculous.

Waiting outside the room when I exited was Sir Renfrey.

"Sir Renfrey," I attempted a bow, "What do I owe the pleasure?" I laughed. I know I did it all wrong but didn't care.

Sir Renfrey smiled and withheld a chuckle I know he was dying to release. He cleared his throat, "Blaine, please."

"That is not proper now, is it?" I scolded playfully.

He laughed, finally, "It is when it's just you and me." He offered me his arm.

I took it, "So where are we off to this time?"

He smiled sweetly, "I am your next instructor."

"And what exactly will you be instructing me on?" I asked curiously.

"Our history and laws, to start with."

I sighed, great.

He led me to the library and then to the second floor where they kept their vampire history. For two hours he explained to me the laws and some of their history which only confused me even more. Why I needed to know all that, I didn't know and neither did Blaine. After that, he had to excuse himself.
