Chapter Twenty-Seven

I honestly didn't care what he said

I honestly didn't care what he said. He hurt me, kidnapped me and turned me into a vampire. I was beyond through with all of it but what could I actually do?

An idea occurred to me and I set that as a plan. I would research the portal and see if I was told the truth. If he lied to me then I would make my escape.

Then as I thought about that, a shattering realization hit me. I was now a vampire, or at least an almost vampire.

I held myself tightly at my waist as my heart beat erratically. I couldn't return. My tongue hit one of my newly acquired fangs and the bite of pain had me sucking in air quickly.

A gentle knock came from my door and Blaine peaked in. "Kenzie, may we come in?"

I heaved a sigh and nodded and tried not to let the tears that threatened to fall actually fall.

"Are you alright, Lady Silverfall?" Doctor Ryland asked as he looked me over for any new injuries.

He looked over my arms where Lord Drayven had grabbed me. "The bruises are nearly healed already. Does your throat still hurt?"

"Yes..." I swallowed the dry lump plaguing my throat. "I'm so thirsty. I need some water." I went to get up and get myself a glass of water but Doctor Ryland placed a hand on my shoulder and Blaine moved to the tea table and picked up one of the covered golden goblets.

"How is she Doc?" Blaine asked.

"Her physical condition is just like ours," he paused when he seen Blaine's expression, "meaning she heals quickly. As for her eyes, I have a theory that will be solved once she drinks blood."

My eyes widened. "Blood? I'm not drinking blood."

"You've been drinking blood Kenzie," Blaine pointed out. I didn't particularly like his tone.

I squinted my eyes at him in annoyance. "With wine and I didn't even notice." I crossed my arms over my chest.

"You won't notice it's blood when you drink it, trust me," Doctor Ryland added with a tender smile.

I rolled my eyes and huffed. "Fine."

"Now, to test my theory," Doctor Ryland spoke a little too enthusiastically.

Blaine handed me the goblet after uncovering it.

I pursed my lips together, unsure if I really wanted to do this but when the delicious aroma wafted up from the goblet I instantly lifted it to my lips and was gulping it down.

I moaned as I drank, not even remembering anyone else was in the room with me. But as I finished, I felt the dryness and ache wash away with the blood I drank.

Pulling the goblet away from my mouth, I became aware of my surroundings again and the two men who watched me drink blood greedily and heard my moan. I was embarrassed but more than that, I wanted more blood.
